Wolverhampton runner-up MANHATTANVILLE sets the form standard and is taken to get off the mark at the third attempt. Ruby Red is feared most with the step up to 7f a possible positive, while Madame Marmalade enters calculations on her debut performance but was disappointing last time. She now gets blinkers.
14:35 Boondoggle
Open Mind and Sharp Riposte make their third starts and set the form standard but BOONDOGGLE did well to finish second (albeit well beaten) on last week’s debut at Ripon given his evident inexperience and he’s open to plenty of improvement today. Sandown third Open Mind for Godolphin is second choice.
15:10 Crownthorpe (NAP)
The Richard Fahey-trained CROWNTHORPE (nap) likes it here and returned to form when second at Nottingham last time out. He is the selection ahead of stablemate Hartswood, who ran well at York two starts ago and didn’t get the breaks at Redcar next time. Yesterday’s Carlisle Bell winner Chichester will have to be respected if turned out swiftly under a 5lb penalty, although his usual tongue-tie is missing. Orbaan and Eagleway are others who could go well in an open race.
15:45 Thaayer
The tough front-runner THAAYER has been in good form here on his last three starts and is taken to add to his April C&D win. The return to Tapeta could be a positive for Harswell Princess and she is second choice. Confrontational got up close home over 6f here last time but it remains to be seen whether he’s still effective at 1m.

Newmarket trainer Ismail Mohammed has a very healthy 8-34 (24%) record here and his 3yo MAGICAL MILE has hinted that he’ll be suited by this step up to 1m. Course winner Proclaimer is on a handy mark and is second choice in the expectation that he improves for his recent reappearance run at Kempton. The Sir Mark Prescott-trained Meisterzinger could take a step forwards now he is back down in trip in first-time headgear in his second handicap, while Redesdale Rebel won over 6f at Thirsk on his reappearance but may not quite see out this longer trip.
16:55 Mabdaa
Military Man is respected back here for a yard with a good course strike-rate, but MABDAA found his niche back over a bare 7f on turf last time and, having relatives with good AW form, he looks interesting returned to Tapeta. Royal Advice also has a good run in him back here, with Trevolli preferred of the remainder.
17:30 Lost My Sock
Big Thanks can improve further and is respected but LOST MY SOCK has been running really well against useful types and has another big run in him after his Chester win over one who ran so well at Ascot last week. Tantastic is preferred of the remainder.
