He was easy to back that day up in trip, but he proved his stamina, and almost certainly has more to offer. The booking of James Doyle adds to his appeal and he looks the one to beat in a relatively open event. Handsome boasts a similar profile and is next on the list, though Spirit Mixer and the hat-trick seeking Glencora also command plenty of respect.
15:00 Akkeringa
AKKERINGA gained his breakthrough win in some style at Doncaster 11 days ago, landing a gamble and proving well suited by the drop back to six furlongs. The faster ground also proved in his favour and he is impossible to oppose turned out under a 6 lb penalty here. Operatic should strip sharper for her encouraging Goodwood return so is feared most with in-form Prince of Abington appealing as the pick of the remainder.
15:35 Subtle Beauty
SUBTLE BEAUTY built on her two-year-old promise when a close second at Newbury a fortnight ago and the drop back to seven furlongs could be in her favour given the speed she showed that day. Oisin Murph takes over in the saddle now and she shades the vote over Malathaat, who was beaten only by the now-useful Air To Air on the Rowley Course last month.
16:10 Ametist
AMETIST continues to go from strength to strength, making a winning reappearance at Wetherby in April and completing a hat-trick up on the Rowley Course here last month despite not really handling the Dip. He’s looking better than a handicapper and the four-timer beckons following a 3 lb rise. On A Session continues in good form and is respected with in-form apprentice Marco Ghiani booked.

ALABAMA BOY shaped better than the bare result on more than one occasion last year and he has duly showed improved form since sent handicapping this season, winning both starts. He proved his opening mark all wrong when bolting up at Haydock in April and followed up off a 10 lb higher mark on the Rowley Course last time. He remains unexposed and is entitled to do better, so is fancied to bring up a hat-trick. Crackling and Turntable rate the chief dangers.
17:20 Michaels Choice
Impossible to rule out any of these but it could pay to side with MICHAELS CHOICE, who hinted that his turn could be just around the corner when third at Windsor last month and is taken to open his account for the year here. Nibras Again went close for the third time in 2021 when runner-up at Nottingham last time and he may have to settle for silver again here, ahead of the consistent Araifjan.
