PATIENT DREAM showed improved form to make a successful reappearance at this course in April, staying on well to get the verdict by a length. He remains open to more improvement, especially now stepping up to 1¼m. With the booking of champion jockey Oisin Murphy also catching the eye, Patient Dream is fancied to defy a 4 lb higher mark to follow up.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
14:35 – Statement
STATEMENT won a maiden at Newbury as a two-year-old and took a big step forward after six months off when second in the Fred Darling Stakes back there in April. She had possible excuses when eighth in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket last time, tiring late on after helping to force a sound gallop. She should stay this trip under less aggressive tactics and remains one to be positive about given her lightly-raced profile.
15:10 – Century Dream
CENTURY DREAM has won two of the last three renewals of this race, including when it was staged at Newbury in 2020. He ended that year with a couple of below-par efforts after winning the Celebration Mile at Goodwood,and he also finished well held on his return in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury. He arrives here with a bit to prove as a result, but there is no doubt he is the most-talented horse in the race if bouncing back to his best in conditions which clearly play to his strengths.
15:45 – Stone Of Destiny
STONE OF DESTINY won the Portland at Doncaster last season, and he proved at least as good as ever with his reappearance under his belt when second at Goodwood last time. He was arguably a little unlucky not to win on that occasion, doing well to be beaten just a head given that he came from a long way back in a race run at just a fair gallop. He is only 3 lb higher in the weights here and looks sure to be thereabouts if getting a clear run through the field (usually races towards the rear).

16:30 – Bolshoi Ballet
BOLSHOI BALLET is very to oppose given that he sets the clear standard on Timeform ratings and should have even more to offer now stepping up to 1½m. He ran out an impressive winner of the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown last time, quickly forging clear in the straight to win by six lengths in an excellent time. It’s potentially significant that he is the only runner this year for Aidan O’Brien, who is already the most successful trainer in the history of the Derby with eight wins. Bolshoi Ballet is clearly held in very high regard and can emulate his sire Galileo, who followed the same route to Epsom glory back in 2001.
17:15 – Group One Power
GROUP ONE POWER made a winning return over this C&D in April, and he ran at least as well in defeat when second from 4 lb higher in the weights at Ascot last time. He shaped better than the bare result on that occasion, simply doing too much too soon under an aggressive ride. Beaten only three and a quarter lengths at the line, he still looks ahead of his mark and should mount a bold bid to resume winning ways under Silvestre de Sousa, who rides this track particularly well (24% strike rate in recent seasons).
17:50 – Aberama Gold
ABERAMA GOLD produced a below-par effort at York last time, but he is the type to bounce quickly, a consistent performer who had been running well in defeat since recording back-to-back wins on the all-weather during the winter. He has dropped to a fair mark judged on the pick of his form and looks to have plenty in his favour now fitted with cheekpieces. Soft going would certainly improve his prospects given how well he goes in the mud.
