4.45pm – Omnivega (NAP)
OMNIVEGA caught the eye when fourth in a slowly-run race at Ascot last month, showing more than enough to suggest that he is still on a good mark. Held up in the early stages, he still had plenty to do entering the straight and did well under the circumstances to be finish as close as he did, putting in some good late work under mainly hands-and-heels riding to be beaten just a length and a quarter.
He remains open to improvement and drops in grade here, so it will be disappointing if he can’t confirm the promise of last time to bring up a fourth all-weather win of the season.
5.15pm – Temper Trap (NB)
TEMPER TRAP won his penultimate outing at Musselburgh and then took another big step forward to follow up at Hamilton last time. He seemed suited by the longer trip on that occasion, hitting the front two furlongs out and keeping going well to land the spoils by two lengths with plenty in hand (eased close home).
That form sets the standard here on Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings – even with a 5lb higher mark – and he looks sure to take plenty of beating in his hat-trick bid, with further progress on the cards now stepping up even further in trip.
8.50pm – Dream House (Each-way)
DREAM HOUSE produced a career best to regain the winning thread at Catterick last month, really impressing with how quickly he shot clear entering the final furlong, then digging deep to hold on from a couple of fast-finishers by a short head.
Admittedly, he was well below that form at Musselburgh last time, but there were possible excuses, with the soft ground and the way the race developed both against him. Still only 1lb higher than when winning at Catterick – where he was arguably value for more than the official margin – he deserves a chance to prove that last time was just a blip and can reward each-way support.
