Something Bird and Prison Padre both made pleasing returns to action, but DONNIE BRASCO will appreciate a slight drop in grade and gets the vote. Dig In didn’t fire on the turf here, but previously filled the runner-up spot over course and distance (C&D) so could bounce back.

There would be no more deserving winner than Happy Guy, who has finished second on three of his last four starts, including when faring better than the disappointing Just Shoot Already most recently. The bar isn’t set too high, though, so perhaps a chance can be taken on newcomer ALVARADO.

OLD FORT had strung together a fine sequence of minor placings before fading slightly last time. He endured a wide passage there and can put it behind him. Analyzeyourvision is less exposed and looks a big threat, as does Lastfortinofamily.
19:30 Hopeful Growth @ 11/8
HOPEFUL GROWTH made a winning debut back in June at Monmouth and returned to action with a creditable second over six furlongs at Gulfstream Park in March. She could prove difficult to beat on that evidence and can prove to strong for Gogo Shoes and Judy’s Way.
20:00 Fashion’s Star @ 5/2
FASHION’S STAR was an impressive winner on debut when trained by Roger Charlton and may have found the ground too quick when following that up with a lack-lustre effort at Ascot. She looks a fascinating recruit for top connections and can prove a cut above this opposition. Flighty Almighty is another interesting UK recruit and is respected along with Stormy D.

CPL. DIONICIO ran out a very impressive winner of a similar event here last month and should follow up if in the same mood today. Circle Away and What A Hoot look most likely to capitalise if the selection fails to fire.

DYNAFORM made it three wins from his last five starts when landing a similar C&D event last time and is fancied to go in again today, possibly at the main expense of California Sun and High Heater.
21:30 US Army Corps @ 6/4
U S ARMY CORPS was touched off right on the line when blazing a trail in a similar C&D event on his seasonal reappearance and, expected to come on for that run, he may take some catching today. Charliecando and Big Dreaming could prove the main threats.
