Stayers’ Hurdle latest odds: Full list of potential runners at Cheltenham Festival 2020

Paisley-Park-&-Faugheen

The Stayers’ Hurdle is the leading long-distance hurdle event on the National Hunt calendar and is the feature race on day three of the Cheltenham Festival.

The Grade 1 race will take place at 3.30pm on Thursday 12 March, run on the New Course over a distance of about 3 miles with 12 hurdles to be jumped.

The inaugural race was called the ‘Stayers Selling Hurdle’ and was a Weight for Age Selling type of event with the winning horse being sold for £50 after the race.

Today we are proud to sponsor the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle, which has a total prize fund of £325,000 and is open to horses aged four years and older.

Since being relaunched in 1972, Big Buck’s has been the most successful horse with four wins, Ruby Walsh the most successful jockey with five wins and Paul Nicholls the most successful trainer with four wins.

Last year Irishman Aidan Coleman rode Paisley Park to a St Patrick’s Day triumph with the horse among the leading contenders for this season.
