13:45 – Revich
An competitive handicap to open the card and course specialist REVICH is taken to record another success. He form figures round here read 15311 and both of his wins last season came at this venue, including one over this course and distance. Revich is 4 lb higher than that winning mark, but has shaped well both starts this year, notably when hitting the frame in an ultra-competitive handicap at Newbury last time. He has landed the plum draw in stall 1 and another bold bid is expected.
New to Paddy Power?
14:15 – Armory
Only five runners in the Huxley Stakes this year but it still looks a good renewal. On form it looks as though ARMORY and Sangarius will fight it out, with preference for the former, who had some solid form in Group 1s last season. His third-place finish to Magical and Ghaiyyath in the Irish Champion Stakes stands out and this tight track shouldn’t be a bother as he was last seen finishing runner-up in the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley. Sangarius beat Bangkok at Lingfield in December and looks the obvious danger.
14:45 – Glencadam Glory
The suggestion, in what looks a particularly open renewal, is GLENCADAM GLORY, who is well treated on his second-place finish in the Ebor last year, and his prominent-running style is often seen to good effect around here. Not So Sleepy is another likely to be ridden on the pace if getting out sharply from stall 13 and he rates a big threat, while Cardano and Who Dares Wins, who has twice been placed in this, are also on the shortlist.
15:15 – El Astronaute
EL ASTRONAUTE is a very likeable and consistent sprinter who has a fantastic record at this track, so he is once again of interest. He goes particularly well when fresh, too, so likely has had this starting point on his agenda for a while, and he has fared okay with the draw. His early speed is one of his main assets and he should prove hard to peg back round here. He’s taken to see off the less-experienced King’s Lynn, who should strip fitter for his recent comeback run.

15:45 – Restorer
RESTORER isn’t getting any younger, but boasts an excellent course record, and clearly goes well fresh, so he looks to have plenty in his favour. He finished last season with a short-head defeat of Lawn Ranger over this course and distance, the addition of cheekpieces seemingly giving him the edge he needed in the finish. Ian Williams has been among the winners of late and Restorer seemingly has plenty in his favour.
16:20 – Elysian Flame
A cracking Chester Plate in which ELYSIAN FLAME is hard to side against given he shoulders just a 3 lb penalty for his useful win in a strong two-mile handicap at Newbury three weeks ago and promises even better to come over this marathon trip. Roger Varian’s lightly-raced Postileo is a likely improver too at this distance and feared most, although recent winners Brasca and Hydroplane need a second look, also.
16:50 – Potenza
A few in here have a squeak, but a chance is taken on POTENZA, who did a bit too much too soon on his return to the Flat at Lingfield last month, but was competitive from this sort of mark towards the back end of the turf season last year. Heart of Soul landed this contest in 2019 and he’s taken to chase the selection home on his return to action, ahead of stable-switcher Carlos Felix.
