Frank Hickey joined the usual suspects – Paddy Power and Ruby Walsh – as well as racing aficionado Lydia Hislop on this week’s special From The Horse’s Mouth to run the rule over Boxing Day’s racing.
Leopardstown, Wetherby and Kempton all get the treatment as we target some post-Christmas cash. Here’s Frank’s top tips.
13:05 Leopardstown – Zanahiyr
Zanahiyr looked the real deal at Fairyhouse and was backed up by the clock. Can’t be opposed by anything in this field.
13:15 Kempton – Son Of Camas
Soft ground didn’t suit Son Of Camas over hurdles last time but a mark of 132 is very attractive and looks worth taking a chance on now that he goes chasing. There’s no way he should be as big as he is and is well worth backing.
13:50 Kempton – The Big Breakaway
The Big Breakaway returns to three miles and trainer Colin Tizzard has had two winners and a second with his last three runners in this race. I think the step up to 3m will be a big help for this horse and I definitely would have him at the bigger price than Shan Blue.
14:05 Wetherby – Windsor Avenue
Windsor Avenue got no luck in the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup last time but he is worth another chance for connections that won this race in 2016. A number of the rivals have questions over their stamina but not Windsor Avenue who is available at a cracking price.

14:15 Leopardstown – Blackbow
Blackbow didn’t hit the heights over hurdles but he made and impressive chase debut at Navan and might be the value now at Leopardstown. He was just that bit too keen over hurdles and goes well at this track.
14:25 Kempton – Epatante
After her super impressive reappearance at Newcastle the hurdles are the only danger for Epatante. Epatante will win this and it’s just a case of how good the Irish horses are when they meet in March.
15:00 Kempton – Clan Des Obeaux
A cracking renewal of the feature race at Kempton and dual winner Clan Des Obeaux can match some greats by winning his third King George VI Chase. I would lay Cyrname as much as possible and can see one of the longer-priced ones hitting the woodwork here.
