12.45pm – Saturn ‘n Silk

A very interesting maiden with SATURN ‘N SILK taken to make her hurdling experience count. She shaped well on her hurdling debut behind a subsequent winner and built on that when finishing third to a short-priced favourite at Newbury last time. There wasn’t much depth to that race, but it was still a positive display of jumping and galloping, and she is well up to winning a race of this nature. Useful Flat performer Vibrance is of obvious interest as a rare runner in this sphere for the yard.

1.15pm – Todd

TODD is a regular at Fakenham and, though he has been well beaten on both starts so far this season, he is of interest returned to this venue. His last win came in a selling handicap here last November, and he has now slipped 1lb below that mark. Todd isn’t getting any younger, but the refitting of blinkers may sharpen him up a little and he is worth chancing in an open handicap.

1.45pm – Maypole Class

MAYPOLE CLASS started a big price for his chasing debut at Uttoxeter but was much better fancied when winning with a bit up his sleeve at Bangor last month. He landed some nice bets that day and had clearly come on a bundle for his reappearance, his jumping not foot perfect but he didn’t make any serious errors, and had more in hand than the winning margin suggests. The handicapper has only raised him 5lbs for that win, which may well underestimate him, and he remains open to improvement in this sphere.

2.20pm – Silkstone

SILKSTONE remains a maiden over hurdles (winner on the Flat) and could be worth chancing having dropped 10lb in the weights on his last three starts. He had some good form as a juvenile last season and took a step back in the right direction at Market Rasen last time, the distance he was beaten possibly exaggerated by sticking to the chewed-up inside in the straight. His trainer Pam Sly does well at this track and he looks well treated on the pick of his form.

2.50pm – Miss Gemstone

MISS GEMSTONE was only modest over hurdles but she bettered that form slightly on her chase debut at Stratford last month. She jumped well in the main under a positive ride, but a mistake at three out and an awkward landing at the second-last took the stuffing out of her and she was left behind by the winner. She was strong in the betting at Ludlow last time but unseated her rider in a soft incident at the sixth fence. Connections have found a weak race for her now and she can open her account.

3.20pm – Master Templar

MASTER TEMPLAR shaped well when finishing fourth in a novice hurdle that has worked out very well at Uttoxeter in October and ran to a similar level at Stratford last time. He left the impression that this longer trip would bring about more improvement and this race won’t take much winning, so he is of plenty interest.
