12.22pm – Hope You Do
HOPE YOU DO showed plenty of ability when winning a bumper on his only start for previous connections in France. He has since joined Philip Hobbs and rates a fascinating contender here on hurdling debut, likely to take plenty of beating in what could prove to be an informative contest.
12.52pm – Patroclus
PATROCLUS appeals as an interesting newcomer for the Nicky Henderson yard that has won the last two renewals of this race. He has a strong National Hunt pedigree (by Shirocco out of a bumper winner) and was bought for £150,000 after finishing second on his debut in an Irish point, so it will be interesting to see whether the market speaks in his favour.
1.27pm – Zambella
ZAMBELLA was well backed and duly took her form up a notch to make a successful chasing debut at Bangor last month. She made a bad mistake at the final fence but recovered quickly, asserting again on the run-in to win comfortably by a length and a quarter. This will be tougher under a penalty, but she seems sure to go on improving in this sphere and is fancied to prove equal to the task.
1.57pm – Don’t Shout
DON’T SHOUT wasn’t seen to best effect after pulling too hard on his reappearance at Ludlow, leaving the impression he’ll be suited by a stronger gallop. He’ll hopefully settle better this time in a first-time hood, while the switch to chasing could also unlock more improvement given his physique (lengthy gelding with plenty of scope). He’s likely to prove himself better than a BHA mark of 116 before too long.
2.32pm – Butler’s Brief
BUTLER’S BRIEF showed improved form after nine months off when second at Uttoxeter last time, hitting a low of 1.02 in-running before being collared by Kendelu on the line. He meets that rival on slightly better terms here, and, likely to strip fitter with the outing under his belt, he is fancied to reverse the placings to gain a belated first win over hurdles.

3.02pm – Manofthemoment
MANOFTHEMOMENT shaped as if retaining all his ability when second on his reappearance at Southwell, proving no match for the winner but looking comfortable on his first try over this sort of trip. He is 2lbs lower here and could be the way to go now back at the scene of his last victory in December 2019.
3.32pm – Exmoor Express
EXMOOR EXPRESS shouldn’t be underestimated in a bumper that is likely to prove strong form, with several top yards being represented. Admittedly, Victor Dartnall wouldn’t be known for having many winners in this sphere, but Exmoor Express is out of a mare who showed fairly useful form on her own bumper debut, so it would be no surprise to see him show up well at rewarding odds.
