Melody King looks the type to have a prosperous 4yo campaign but with both trip and ground unknowns, this may not be his day. Get Boosting and Boundless Power come here on the back of smooth successes and are feared but this could be the day when it all clicks for GOOD LUCK FOX.
14:10 Rum Runner
The starting point here is Ventura Rascal, successful on three of his last four starts and likely to go well again, but Irv wasn’t far behind him at Pontefract last month and could turn the tables on today’s revised terms. The veteran Club Wexford could also get involved from a plunging mark but the vote goes to the strong-travelling RUM RUNNER, who shaped as if coming to the boil over C&D two weeks ago.
14:45 Young Fire
The last-time winners Flying Pursuit and Broken Spear have to be respected but YOUNG FIRE will relish the return to soft ground and he has plenty going for him on his autumn form. Queen’s Sargent is a dangerous rival, though, as he won cosily at Catterick two starts ago and has won his two most recent C&D starts. Fox Duty Free is likely to handle the conditions back on turf and is also considered.

Preference is for the comfortable Newcastle AW winner DIRHAM EMIRATI who looks capable of further improvement over 1m4f, while Auriferous and Skytree are the other main form contenders.

Cold Stare is in much better order than his form figures suggest and he’s a major player off a handy mark. Intrinsic Bond should quickly leave a disappointing run at Ripon behind him but this looks good for COMMANCHE FALLS (nap). Progressive last season, he looked an improved performer when powering home at Ayr last month and can make light of his 7lb rise.
16:30 Highjacked
A similar big-field C&D handicap here last week was dominated by the high numbers but they were fancied runners and the fourth horse home was drawn 4 and not beaten far. With that in mind, it might not pay to get too hung up on the draw and HIGHJACKED can continue his good start to the season. Leo Davinci ended his drought at Nottingham last week and is considered, with Absolute Dream and Lady Monica others to consider. It’s also possible that both Irish Eileen and Effronte have bigger efforts in them and they need a market check.
