12:30 Little Awkward
Valleres sets the standard on Timeform weight-adjusted ratings here and will likely be a short-priced favourite, but LITTLE AWKWARD had some good form in bumpers and looked very professional when making a winning start over hurdles at Plumpton in December. Admittedly, the opposition wasn’t up to much, but he won by 12 lengths without coming out of third gear, impressing in every aspect of his performance. There should be even more to come now and this slightly longer trip will also be in his favour.

13:00 Hab Sab
This doesn’t look a deep event and HAB SAB is taken to return to form now back over fences. He made a winning start to the season at Plumpton in October and shaped better than the bare result under an overly aggressive ride on his next start at the same track. Hab Sab won’t have been suited by the demands of a jumpers’ bumper last time, so can have that effort overlooked, and much better is expected now back chasing, particularly granted he could get an easy lead.
13:30 Mount Windsor
MOUNT WINDSOR isn’t obviously well treated in his quest for a four-timer, but with the majority of his rivals here having a lot to prove, he rates the safest option, as he showed improved form on his first start at this trip last time and could have even more to offer. Nordic Combined isn’t the most straightforward, but ought to be a factor in a race like this, while Kings Walk and Baddesley Prince require a market check back from a long time off.
14:00 Definite Dilemma
DEFINITE DILEMMA remains with few miles on the clock, and has made an encouraging start over fences. He was very weak in the betting starting out for this yard in a handicap chase at Warwick last month, but he won both of his starts in points, and showed much improved form after 19 months off the track. Definite Dilemma again caught the eye when finishing third over course and distance last time, looking stretched by such testing ground, while also maybe unsuited by being turned out relatively quickly after a long layoff. The return to better ground now should suit better and he has more to recommend him than most in this line-up.

14:32 Sandy Brook
Truckers Pass sets the standard on the form of his runner-up effort to a useful sort on hurdling debut at Ffos Las in October, but he was disappointing when only fourth at Doncaster last time after being tight in the market. Therefore, it could be worth siding with SANDY BROOK, who made an excellent start to his career in bumpers. He pulled miles clear of the remainder with the runner-up when opening his account at Hereford last month and looks the sort who will do even better now sent hurdling.
15:02 Kapga De Lily
KAPGA DE LILY has proved most progressive over fences this season, winning her first four starts by an aggregate of 54 lengths. She is now 34 lb higher in the handicap than when her winning run started, but judged by her latest success at Chepstow in January she could rate even higher yet. It is worth forgiving her a poor effort last time, as she was allowed to come home in her own time following a significant mid-race error. The step back up in trip now back on better ground and it will be a surprise if she doesn’t resume her progress.
15:32 Darkest Day
A wide-open finale. DARKEST DAY remains a maiden, but has been knocking on the door this year, and gets a tentative vote to open his account following a sound effort in a jumpers’ bumper. The Wire Flyer, a last-time-out winner at Ffos Las, Just Henry and the Colin Tizzard-trained Little Vern head the dangers.
