KATHEEFA belongs to a brilliant sprint academy at Ruth Carr’s yard, who have a whole host of multiple winners. He is no exception having won at this particular ballpark on four occasions – two of them came from a much higher rating.
Expect Katheefa to be dropped in at the early stages and played late. The team have decided to add the tongue tie and that particular aid, added to a return to his favourite venue while being back down in grade, bodes well for a big performance.
Multiple winner KOYBIG has never got his head in front down over the long sprint distance of 7 furlongs but he travelled very easily in mid-division last time and didn’t quite get a clear cut at the leaders in the closing stages.
The visor goes on to give him added focus and he has a real big, smooth, fluent, action. David Marnane’s gelding just needs a clear passage in the straight and not to have that momentum interrupted like last time.
LADY CAMELOT went very close over two furlongs shorter here a couple of races ago and then ran an absolute shocker over the same course and distance last time. I can only imagine that the complete change in tactics is the reason for such a poor showing, and we can expect her to be ridden much more aggressively over this slightly further distance, which looks guaranteed to suit. Rossa Ryan takes over in the saddle and adds to the attraction of this mare.

CHATEAU MUSAR was originally handed a mark of 67, but that proved beyond him in the early stages of his racing career. After being switched to the all-weather he found himself sliding down to a mark where he just had to be competitive in the high 40s and he got his head in front back in November.
The effort last time can be upgraded as he may as well have been drawn in the car park as from stall 15. He has been handed a much better starting position this time and it’s also no surprise that jockey Chris Hayes is keen to have another crack in the saddle.
THE GLOAMING seemed to just stumble coming out of the starting stalls last time at Wolverhampton and took three or four strides to regather her balance and momentum. That may well of been the difference between winning or losing.
She got going late on and was undoubtedly the strongest at the finish. Switching to this venue should not be a problem, the only downside is she’s not going to start at anywhere near the 100/1 that she was last time. However, it’s a small field and, provided she is a little bit slicker from the get-go, she can gain her first victory.
John McConnell has a few runners on the card this evening and has already been successful in 2021, on the opening day of the season at Tramore. It won’t be long before this canny handler strikes on the level and it could well be with this very cheap purchase of just £1,400 from the sales.
FRYERNS was a little awkward from the gates last time and did well in the circumstances to finish as close up as she did. Connections have decided that having Shane Foley onboard can make the difference now.
