Chelmsford debut scorer MARAAKIZ is taken to defy a 7lb penalty but market confidence behind Expert Eye’s half-brother Duty Of Care should be heeded. They are the two most interesting runners but check the betting for any other signals.

16:55 Highland Avenue

Run To Freedom has leading claims on his C&D effort seven weeks ago but he was no match for a Charlie Appleby-trained colt in that race and it may be a similar story today, as well-bred newcomer HIGHLAND AVENUE looks a likely type. El Camino and River Derwent are open to improvement.

17:25 Deputy (NAP)

Rohaan has a good chance under a penalty for last week’s Newcastle success, provided he’s as effective back on Poltyrack. An interesting alternative is the twice-raced DEPUTY (nap), who is open to any amount of improvement now he’s sent into handicap company. Dashing Dick, Love Of Zoffany and last-time-out course winner Hackness Harry are worthy of respect.

17:55 Secret Victory

The form standard is set by SECRET VICTORY on his second run back from a layoff. Likely improver Sword Spirit is a seriously respected rival, while Amsby is also in the mix.

Eponina and Toronado Queen will probably give their running, while Roman Spinner won this race last year off a higher mark, but this is probably all about AMNIARIX, who brings plenty of potential after just three starts, the latest of which was an authoritative 7f win which looked promising for 1m.

18:55 Fly Falcon

It’s far from unreasonable to hope that FLY FALCON will find this first assignment for David Menuisier very much to his liking, considering two of his half-siblings won the first time they raced on Polytrack and another has recorded an RPR of 108 on her sole outing to date on this surface. Last-time Wolverhampton scorer Horn Of Plenty makes appeal returning to the C&D of her best pre-surgery performance, whilst Culture continues to perform too well on Polytrack not to consider.

19:25 Amtiyaz

This will probably be decided by further improvement from AMTIYAZ or Imperium. The latter is highly respected and registered a C&D win last time but there may well be more potential in his younger, Gosden-trained rival who looked well in charge last time when he was upped to 1m6f at Wolverhampton.
