Frank Hickey has picked out four horses to follow when the Paddy Power November Meeting concludes at Cheltenham on Sunday.
Speaking on the latest episode of our From The Horse’s Mouth podcast, the expert tipster shed some light on who could come up trumps at Prestubry Park.
“I think DISCORAMA for Paul Nolan in this one. This horse has very solid Cheltenham form and was second in the Martin Pipe off a mark of 136, was second beaten a half-length in the National Hunt Chase and was third in the Ultima beaten by two-and-a-half lengths last March off a mark of 148.
“He’s gone up to 150 but he did have a really nice reappearance at Galway when beaten a short head by Milan Native, when conceding 4lbs. I think he’ll step up to 3m and it will actually really suit him. Hopefully he’ll get his head in front and I think he really deserves it.”
“This is an interesting race and the money during the week was suggesting DEFI DU SEUIL wasn’t going to run. I assume that was because maybe Philip Hobbs said he wanted a bit more rain but Defi is declared and I imagine he is only going to shorten up between now and race time. Put The Kettle On did win the Arkle but I still don’t think it was the strongest Arkle ever, even allowing for the fact that Rouge Vif was very impressive in a handicap the last day.
“I think Defi Du Seuil is the most interesting runner, but then the most intriguing runner is Riders Onthe Storm. I was a big fan of this horse last year and he progressed really rapidly for Nigel Twiston-Davies, winning a handicap off a mark of 140 and winning a Grade 1 at Ascot beating Cyrname when he fell at the last. He then fell three out when travelling well enough in the Ryanair. He drops back to 2m here, and did win over 2m when trained in Ireland by Tom Taaffe and you just get the feeling a really strong pace will suit him. Normally his jumping is really good and you would think this test would suit him.”

“THINKING is very interesting on his first start for David Pipe. He’s only had one run over hurdles in France and won very easily, beating a horse that is now rated 124 in the UK. Carrying 10st 4lbs, with the Pipe yard in form, a mark of 132 could be very workable.”
