T20 World Cup odds
The latest T20 World Cup odds* suggest defending champions India will win the tournament once again in 2026. India beat South Africa by seven runs at the Kensington Oval in 2024 to secure the nation’s second T20 World Cup triumph, and first since 2007.
The fact India – the home of the IPL – took 17 years to win a second T20 World Cup is remarkable. And yet they could begin a mini dynasty in 2026 if they can successfully defend their crown.
India are 2.50 win the 2026 T20 World Cup. After that, the cricket odds back Australia at 4.50, South Africa at 6.00, and England at 6.50. The rest – including 2021 runners-up New Zealand – are priced beyond 10.00.
When is the T20 World Cup?
The next T20 World Cup is scheduled for February-March 2026. The tournament will take place before the IPL season gets underway that spring, meaning all players will be available to represent their countries.
The exact date for each T20 World Cup has to move depending on where it’s staged. In 2024 the tournament took place across June in the West Indies. Two years earlier, it took place in Australia between October and November.
Where is the T20 World Cup in 2026?
The next T20 World Cup will be held in Sri Lanka and India. There was an initial proposal for Sri Lanka to host the tournament themselves but the ICC awarded joint-host status as there weren’t enough stadiums on the island to facilitate a whole tournament.
The 2026 T20 World Cup will feature 20 teams divided into four groups of five. This means there will be 55 matches to bet on in total, with the top two from each group advancing to the Super 8 – a two-group second round. After that we move on to the semi-finals and then the final.
T20 World Cup betting tips
The 2024 T20 World Cup format is repeated for 2026 and it looks like the ICC have finally got a structure that works.
Betting on cricket during the 2024 tournament was hugely popular – and the format consistency means we can offer more confident betting tips even when the next event is many months away.
Here are some T20 World Cup tips to consider:
- England can always fizzle – While many cricket betting fans bank on England each tournament, conditions very much dictate how well they’re likely to do. Their best T20 World Cup result on the Indian subcontinent was to reach the 2016 final, where they lost to West Indies. It’s more likely that they will fizzle out in 2026, although the 2028 World Cup in New Zealand and Australia may be better for them.
- Keep an eye on South Africa – Often overlooked in the cricket betting, South Africa usually carry good odds heading into a T20 World Cup. The team reached their first final in 2024 and they are perennial underachievers in this competition. South Africa will have to come good soon. If not in 2026 then perhaps in 2028.
- A tournament for spinners? – T20 World Cups in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have traditionally favoured spin bowlers. The 2026 tournament should be nothing different. If you’re betting on wickets and bowlers in 2026 then the kings of spin should be who you look towards. Save the seamers for Australia and New Zealand in 2028.
- Backing India is too easy – India are 2.50 favourites to win the 2026 T20 World Cup on home soil. Those odds are incredibly slim for a nation that crashed when last hosting in 2016. The expectation is sky high now India are defending champions but the odds are so slim that this becomes a bit of a risky bet.
Who Will Win The T20 World Cup?
As we’ve just mentioned, India are favourites to win the next T20 World Cup in 2026. They’re co-hosts for the tournament and have experienced players who will be primed for the competition as it falls just before the IPL season.
And yet there are better picks out there than India at 2.50 to win. Australia are believed to be turning a corner after two miserable T20 World Cup campaigns and at 4.50 are well placed as second-favourites.
South Africa are due success in this competition one day. 2026 might be two years too soon for this team but they’re a good opening price at 6.00, as are England at 6.50.
However, the best outside T20 World Cup tip is probably New Zealand. They’re 13.00 at this early stage in the betting and those odds will only fall over the coming months. The team bombed in 2024 but with Afghanistan fading and Sri Lanka not expected to do much, New Zealand should grab a Super 8 spot. From there, they could surprise a few cricket betting experts to make the knockouts.
