Match odds – One of the most common betting types in football, match odds allow you to wager on who will win the game, or the draw. You’ll see them look like this: Home Win (1), Draw (X), Away Win (2). You can cash out match odds at Paddy Power during games.

Correct score – Bet on what the correct score will be after 90 minutes. The most common score in the Premier League is 1-0 to the home team.

HT/FT – Bet on the result at half time and full time. For example, you bet on Germany to win the first half and England to win the game. Your HT/FT bet is therefore Germany/England.

Over/Unders – Bet on more or fewer goals, corners, cards, shots or anything else that can be a stat. Paddy sets the over/under line and you back it or bet against it. For example, you might bet on +2.5 goals scored between England and Germany. If three goals or more are scored, you win your bet! Check our our over/under goals betting guide for more tips!

Handicaps – Apply a handicap to a range of bet options (like match result) and level out the odds. You might, for example, bet on England to beat Germany with a -1.5 goal handicap. England need to win by two goals for you to win your bet! Read our football betting handicap guide for more info.

Stats specials – Paddy offers loads of stat specials ahead of major games. These can be combined into bigger wagers, and are ideal if you don’t support either team but still want to bet on the game. Examples of stats specials include:

  • Each team to commit a foul in 40 mins
  • A save to be made in first 10 mins
  • The home team to have a shot on target and away team to commit foul in first 5 mins

#WhatOddsPaddy – Don’t see the odds you’re looking for? Ask Paddy on social media for odds on any outcome you like. Perhaps you want to bet on England to score first after Germany have recorded three shots on target. Well, ask #WhatOddsPaddy and find out the price! Here’s an example of #WhatOddsPaddy from a recent Champions League game:

Scorecast – A scorecast bet is when you bet on the first goalscorer and the end result. You could, for example, bet on an England striker to score first in a 3-0 win over Germany. The benefit of a scorecast bet is the far greater odds you get compared to placing two separate bets.

First/Last goalscorer – Bet on either who will score first or last in a game. The last goalscorer markets are ideal for backing a substitute to come on a grab an equaliser or winner late on.

Anytime goalscorer – Simply bet on a player to score at any time. Think about whether the player might be subbed later in the game, and whether this would affect your decision.

Player shown a card – You can bet on a player to pick up a card – either yellow or red. This is a particularly good market when betting on derbies like the Merseyside derby and the Old Firm.

Player sent off – Back a player to be sent off at greater odds than the ‘player card’ market. This is an ideal choice when betting live on football and realising a player is destined to pick up a red.

Card totals – At Paddy Power you can bet on booking points. It’s 10 points for every yellow card in a game, and 15 points for every red. Bet over/under a set line. For example, you might wager on there being +105.5 points between England and Germany.

Player to have a shot – It’s a small but potentially profitable bet. Back a player to have a shot at some point in the game. This is ideal for backing defenders who like to bomb forwards or go up for corners.

To score or assist – Bet on a player to either score or assist. The odds may be quite low here but there are two routes to you winning your bet!

Anytime assist – You can back a player to provide an assist at any stage of the game. Remember, an assist is awarded to the player who last touched the ball before the goalscorer. Free-kick and corner takers are therefore worth checking out. See how to master football assist betting here!

BTTS – BTTS stands for Both Teams To Score and is as simple a football bet as a neutral can place. Read our both teams to score guide for more info here!

Result and BTTS – Bet on the result of the game and both teams to score.

Double Chance –  A double chance bet in football is where you back two of the three possible match outcomes: Home Win & Draw (1X), Draw & Away Win (X2), Home Win & Away Win (12). You decrease your odds but increase your chances of winning. Read more about double chance betting here.

First Team to Score – Bet on the first team to find the net in a match. This can be a lucrative option when one team is set up to counter attack.

HT result  A simple bet on what the result will be at half time: Home (1), Draw (X), Away (2).

Goalkeeper to make X saves – Bet on goalkeepers to impress between the sticks and make a certain number of saves in a game. This is ideal for uneven matches where one keeper is likely to be very busy. Likewise, you might back the other goalkeeper to make very few saves during a quiet game.

Accas – Accumulator bets are when you combine a string of selections into one mega wager. Each selection has to win in order for your bet to win, which is why the odds are higher for an acca. Read our how do football accumulators work guide for more info.

And there you have it! It’s safe to say there are a lot of types of football bet available at Paddy Power and we’re dropping new markets all the time.
