Liverpool v Arsenal
Saturday, 5:30pm
TV: Sky Sports Main Event
I couldn’t believe the reaction to Liverpool’s 0-0 draw with United last week. I think maybe people are a bit spoilt with the Premier League and all the goals being scored.
It feels like people think there’s some crisis because Liverpool had a bore draw!
Yeah, obviously, it was boring game but Jesus Christ, everyone’s entitled to one of those now and again. Liverpool have given us enough entertainment over the years.
And they dominated the game, it was just difficult to break United down the way they played.
They were still wounded by the 7-0 last season, and rightly so – that’s what people wee talking about in the build-up. They were cautious, it worked well for them, but the criticism against Liverpool was a bit ridiculous.
And they proved that on Wednesday night with an emphatic 5-1 win against West Ham in the League Cup.
From the moment that game kicked off, it felt like a different team.
A lot of the fringe players who came in – Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott – looked good, and Dominik Szoboszlai scored a great goal, so there were some positives to take into the weekend.
And this is a huge test for them against Arsenal.
Whoever wins this looks like favourites for the league if City keep dropping points.
Arsenal pushed them close last year. they led the league most of the season and they look a class act again this year after adding Declan Rice and a few others.
Man City are always going to be in and around the top, but these two are the best of the rest.
With them dropping points there’s a huge opportunity for both sides.
Liverpool to Win
And I think Liverpool will seize it at Anfield.
Arsenal are very dangerous and obviously it’s a game that could go either way. The pace of Arsenal’s attack especially means they could catch Liverpool on the break, but watching them against West Ham, if they play like that, jumping on Arsenal when they are playing out from the back, they’ll have enough to edge it.
Trent Alexander-Arnold to Have 1+ Shots on Goal
And if they do the likelihood is that Trent Alexander Arnold will be involved in the goals, either scoring or making them, so I’ll have him to get a shot in target at least here.
Gabriel Martinelli to Have 1+ Shots on Goal
Arsenal should score though. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli carry the biggest threat with their pace and I’ll go for the Brazilian to hit the target once or more times.
Bukayo Saka to be Fouled 2+ Times
Stopping him and Saka will be key for Liverpool if they’re to win, and you could see Saka being fouled a few times as they try to contain him.
Declan Rice to Commit 1+ Fouls
With so much pace on show on both teams you could see the game getting stretched. It means midfielder like Declan Rice might have to make a timely foul or two and it’s worth adding to this Bet Builder.
