There’s three games to go and four teams left standing, but who will lift the trophy on Sunday evening at Wembley? We asked footy legend Phil Thompson and our top trader Emmet O’Keefe who they are backing for glory.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
Phil Thompson – England
I’m fully behind the Three Lions and I fancy England to win it. The betting has changed throughout the tournament, especially with France and then Belgium going out. I fancied Belgium before the start of the tournament as they’ve got a golden generation but it wasn’t meant to be.
England have been good but the draw has been very kind to them. They went and did their job in Rome and performed well. Now it’s back at Wembley for the semi-final and the final if they get there.
It’s fallen into place for England but some might say it’s the same for Denmark too, who were my dark horses heading into the tournament. England have got better throughout Euro 2020.
They’re strong defensively and in midfield and the lads up front have started to perform. All signs point to England winning it.
Emmet O’Keeffe – Denmark
I can see why England are the price they are with the semi-final and final at Wembley but I think Denmark are a decent bet. They don’t possess the household names and the tradition that Italy, Spain and England do, but if you look at their performances throughout the tournament, they’ve been brilliant.
They dominated Wales and Russia and they were reasonably impressive against a fairly good Czech Republic team too. I think they can give England plenty of problems at Wembley on Wednesday.
Denmark play really good, high-pressing football and they look to dominate teams. They may come up short against England but at a bigger price, they’re worth a go.
