Mark Lawrenson's Premier League betting predictions

The 2024/25 Premier League season is hurtling towards its halfway point, and Paddy’s pal Mark Lawrenson is steadfastly gazing into his crystal ball every single match day.

The Soccer Soothsayer has read the signs and crunched the numbers to produce his Premier League predictions over the coming days. Let’s see what the future holds…

Saturday 12:30pm: Aston Villa v Man City

TV: TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate

Aston Villa got done at Nottingham Forest last weekend and Manchester City… it was just farcical. Where do you go with this game? I’m just going to come down on the side of Villa, it will be interesting to see when City can stop the rot. Too many players just keep making mistakes, you would have got good odds on them losing five all season, let alone before Christmas. Aston Villa 2-1 Manchester City.

Saturday 3pm: Brentford v Nott’m Forest

Forest had that good comeback against Villa, winning from behind. Brentford just win at home, they can’t stop and, even though Forest are doing great, you can’t ignore that. Brentford 3-1 Nottingham Forest.

Saturday 3pm: Ipswich v Newcastle

It was a huge win for Ipswich at Wolves last time but Newcastle had a thumping victory themselves. I’m going to go for Newcastle, this is the kind of game they have to win. Ipswich 0-2 Newcastle.

Saturday 3pm: West Ham v Brighton

I fancy a home win. From looking like Julen Lopetegui’s head was on the chopping block he’s emerged in fine fettle. It just shows that you have to give people a bit of time and it’s such a hard league. Brighton, one week they are brilliant the next it looks like they’ve never met. West Ham 2-1 Brighton.

Saturday 5.30pm: Crystal Palace v Arsenal

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

I think this will be quite comfortable for Arsenal. They’ve been struggling to break down teams at home and they might enjoy the extra space. They’ve got to start winning in the league or they’re going to get left behind. This could be more comfortable than the Carabao Cup game. Crystal Palace 0-2 Arsenal.

Sunday 2pm: Everton v Chelsea

You know what, I’m going to go for an Everton win. I think they’ll bully Chelsea, I really do. I’m not worried about Everton in terms of the drop. Chelsea have been flying but these runs do stop and I wouldn’t be surprised if it stops here. Everton 2-1 Chelsea.

Sunday 2pm: Fulham v Southampton

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Fulham were very impressive at Liverpool but Southampton are just a mess. They haven’t appointed anyone yet and I haven’t really seen too many linked with it either. I’d be amazed if Fulham don’t win this. Fulham 2-0 Southampton.

Sunday 2pm: Leicester v Wolves

Both of these are desperate for the points so that’s screaming score draw at me. Leicester 1-1 Wolves.

Sunday 2pm: Man Utd v Bournemouth

Everyone knows that I love Bournemouth but I think Manchester United will be too strong for them. United always looks like conceding a goal but they must be sky high with that derby win. Manchester United 3-1 Bournemouth.

Sunday 4.30pm: Tottenham v Liverpool

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

With Spurs playing on Thursday night that will hurt them, they’ve hardly got any fit players either so there’s not too much going for Tottenham. It has to be a Liverpool win and a little bit of vengeance for the Reds after that crazy VAR balls-up in this game last season. Tottenham 0-2 Liverpool.
