Barcelona v Athletic Club

La Liga match at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, Barcelona
TV: Premier Sports 1, Saturday, 6:00pm

Barcelona to win and over 2.5 goals

Barcelona kicked off (or Flicked off) the reign of Hansi with a 2-1 win at Valencia last weekend as Robert Lewandowski’s double secured victory on the road.

They are back in Catalonia this weekend, with Athletic Bilbao heading over from the Basque Country, in what could be labelled as the Nico Williams derby.

The Spain star opted to remain in Bilbao, despite Barcelona pulling out all the stops to sign him this summer, with his side drawing 1-1 at home to Getafe on the opening weekend.

Barcelona should edge the win, with five successive home league victories against this weekend’s opponents, and three of those games featured over 2.5 goals scored in total.

Inter Milan v Lecce

Serie A match at the San Siro, Milan
TV: OneFootball, Saturday, 7:45pm

Inter Milan to win and over 2.5 total goals

Inter Milan were held to a late 2-2 draw at Genoa in their season start last weekend with the defending Serie A champions now back on home soil against Lecce.

Lecce were hammered 4-0 at home to Atalanta in their opener, and the visitors will be wary of a heavy defeat in Milan, with Inter winning a whopping ten-in-a-row at home in this fixture.

Monza v Genoa

Serie A match at the Stadio Brianteo, Monza
TV: OneFootball, Saturday, 7:45pm

Draw

Neither Monza nor Genoa enjoyed a winning start to the 2024/25 Serie A season as the former were held to a 0-0 at Empoli and Genoa grabbed a draw with Inter.

There is a strong chance of a repeat this weekend, with both teams lacking a little sparkle, and a two points on the board at the end of August is not a bad return for sides expected to be involved in the relegation battle in 2025.

Espanyol v Real Sociedad

La Liga match at the Stage Front Stadium, Barcelona
TV: Premier Sports 1, Saturday, 8:30pm

Under 2.5 goals

Espanyol kicked off their return to La Liga with a 1-0 defeat at fellow returnees Real Valladolid last weekend as Real Sociedad lost 2-1 at home to Rayo Vallecano.

Confidence will be a little low for both sides ahead of this clash, with the hosts knowing a strong home record will be decisive in their fight for survival, in what could be a long season for Barcelona’s ‘other’ team.

Getafe v Rayo Vallecano

La Liga match at the Estadio Coliseum, Getafe
TV: Premier Sports 2, Saturday, 8:30pm

Under 2.5 goals

A Madrid derby wraps up Saturday’s La Liga action as Rayo Vallecano take the short trip down to Getafe. Getafe’s trip to Athletic Bilbao ended as 1-1 last weekend as Rayo sealed a shock win at Real Sociedad.

However, the hosts are expected to revert to their gritty selves, with Jose Bordalas’ side boasting a reputation as one of Spain’s toughest teams to face at home.

Three of the last six meetings between these sides has ended at 0-0 and only one of those games included over 2.5 goals scored.
