Liverpool v Man City

Sunday, 3:45pm
Premier League match at Anfield, Liverpool
TV: Sky Sports Main Event

It takes a lot of character to get through a tough period like Liverpool have had with injuries. they just wanted to get through the Prague game without picking up any more – hopefully it’s nothing too serious for Konate.

Mo Salah’s made an appearance and could be involved on Sunday, so obviously that’s a big plus for them if he can play.

Hopefully he play 90 minutes on the weekend because he’s needed.

You couldn’t envisage many more injuries than they’ve had. Even when you think about Alisson – it’s easy for people to forget about him just because Caoimhin Kelleher has done such a fantastic job, but they are still missing their number one goalkeeper!

Both fullbacks have been out for a considerable amount of time, so defensively they’re lacking too, but the whole way through the team it’s been injuries.

So they’ve done very well to be in a position they’re in now and the Forest win felt like a huge moment last weekend. You saw the kind of the reaction, the celebrations – when you pull off something like that it galvanizes the team even when you’re when you’re feeling tired. A goal like that just lifts the whole place and you can go bouncing into the next game off it.

And you can do with that feelgood factor when you’re playing Man City. They are they look sensational at the moment. It feels like they’re in the zone again – whoever plays is just looks electric.

Even the way they coasted through against Copenhagen. Some might take that for granted but they gave teams a lot of trouble in the group stage –  Manchester United, Galatasaray, Bayern Munich. City just rolled them over.

They were one down at halftime in the Manchester derby last week but it reminds me United in the 90s – when they were a goal down, or even two, you still felt they were never going to lose a game.

It feels the same with City now.

And watching the game, you still know they’re light years ahead of United –  Rashford scored an incredible goal, but City completely controlled the game, got back into it.

Phil Foden to have 1 or more shots on target

Phil Foden was was absolutely unbelievable taking his goals.

He’s turning into into one of the most important players and he’s one of my picks for Sunday with a Shot on Target at least.

Liverpool to Win

Without doubt though this game being at Anfield is a big factor for me.

If it’s at the Etihad you think City win this, but the atmosphere around these games against City does make it uncomfortable for them. I couldn’t condone what happened with the bus before and all that, but previous visits to Anfield certainly are a factor that plays into what kind of game and result you’d fancy on Sunday.

I stuck my neck out on my podcast this week and said Liverpool would win so I’m going to stick with that for my Bet Builder.

Alexis Mac Allister to have one or more shots on target

Liverpool are getting some of their big names back, Alexis Mac Allister amongst them. He played well at Forest and played a crucial role, setting up the goal.

He also likes a shot from range and is worth including here.

Kevin De Bruyne to have 1 or more shots on target

As always with City, there are so many attacking options it’s hard to know where to look.

So much runs through Kevin De Bruyne for them though and he has an eye for goal.

Rodri to commit 1 or more fouls

We all know the stakes here and the history of the fixture, so there will be an edge to this game.

Rodri in the midfield is always good for tactical fouls too
