      Aston Villa v Man United

Chelsea were fantastic on Wednesday night at Villa Park. It’s weird – I certainly didn’t see the result coming.

I was up there for the Newcastle game too a few weeks ago when Villa also lost 3-1. Their home form had been phenomenal up to those games.

Ezri Konsa’s been a mainstay in their team and is a fantastic centre-half so he is a loss for sure, but they haven’t been hit by a lot of big injuries. And when you look at the kind of performance Villa put in against Sheffield United last weekend, these results look even stranger.

Even if The Blades have become the whipping boys of the league, a win away like that shows that Villa still have lots of quality.

I expect them to give Man United a really tough game despite their ups-and-downs recently and the Villa fans will want to see them bounce back after the cup replay disappointment.

For United, that Wolves game should be the catalyst for a turnaround. Kobbie Mainoo scored in injury time to win it and it felt like a big goal.

They followed it up with a convincing performance against West Ham and it means they’re enjoying the best spell of the season so far.

But we’ve said that before. Just when you think they’ve got it together something ridiculous happens – even in the Wolves game, I’ve never seen a team look so in control and yet somehow it ends up 3-3 in the 95th minute!

      It’s madness really.

They have some hope with the young players like Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund, who has started scoring goals. They’ve been their best players this season.

But Lisandro Martinez is a player I like and he’s injured again. That’s a big loss.

      Aston Villa to Win

With this game at Villa Park, which has been a fortress for much of the season, the home side need to reinforce that now.

It was a poor result in midweek but I think they’ll flip it around. This’ll be a close game but Villa can just edge it.

Ollie Watkins to Have 1+ Shots on Target

Ollie Watkins has shown that he’s just a perfect fit for this team. With players like Douglas Luiz pulling the strings in midfield who can play a pass, Watkins can make so many runs and get on the end of things.

And they’re more intelligent runs now. Unai Emery’s given him guidance on how he should be playing and he’s become a top player with it.

The way he’s playing, he’d be my pick for England if Harry Kane ever had to miss games.

He’s Villa’s biggest goal threat and should have a shot on target on Sunday.

Rasmus Hojlund to Have 1+ Shots on Target

For United, while Alejandro Garnacho can be a bit frustrating, he’s done really well in my view this season and is a big threat for them.

And with Rasmus Hojlund getting more and more confident now he needs the service from the wide players to keep getting goals.

The young Dane has all the attributes to be a really good player. His best is still to come and we should see even more of his potential next season.

He’ll be leading the line for United on Sunday and should have an effort on target as well.

      Over 5.5 Cards

I always think when you’ve had a bad result or two like Villa have, and the crowd know that you should be doing better, they’re on you looking for a result the next time out.

And especially against team like Man United – the crowd’ll be really up for it and want to see a performance.

I know from experience how Villa Park can be a cauldron on evening’s like this and I think the atmosphere could lead to fiery encounter and a few cards.

      Casemiro to Commit 2+ Fouls

That means there’ll have to be a few tackles flying around.

If you’re looking at players who’ll be involved in anything like that, Casemiro’s back in the United midfield after missing a lot of the season and seems as likely as anyone to commit a few fouls, especially with pace Villa have and if United are chasing the game.
