    PSV Eindhoven v Arsenal
Champions League match at Philips Stadion

It’s always good fun when the British teams play in the early spots in the Champions League and at 5:45pm this Tuesday we have PSV vs Arsenal. The Gunners have already wrapped up top spot in Group B but they’d love to finish with a bang, especially after defeat in the Premier League on Saturday.

    Both teams to Score

It’s always tricky to try and work out how the final games in Champions League groups will go when some teams already know their fates. Arsenal know they’ve qualified for the knockout stages and they’ll be joined by PSV. The Dutch team will come second even if they lose and Lens win due to their better head-to-head record. That of course means there’s less pressure and the game could open up.

Arsenal have quality enough to score even if they rest some of their stars, while PSV have home advantage. I can see both teams bagging goals here.

    Johan Bakayoko Anytime Assist

Johan Bakayoko has had a great season for PSV domestically, where he’s scored three and already racked up eight assists. He’s also tied for the lead in Champions League assists, even if it is just one.

The 20-year-old Belgian wideman is one of the dangermen here and will likely be up against Oleksandr Zinchenko who hasn’t had the best performances in an Arsenal shirt over the past couple of weeks. Bakayoko could have some success here and continue his brilliant Eredivisie form.

Luuk de Jong to have 3 or more Shots

It feels like Luuk de Jong has been around forever but he’s still very much PSV’s key man and will be a danger to Arsenal, especially if they rest much of their backline. He’s his club’s leading scorer in both Europe and the Eredivisie with two and 10 goals respectively.

He averages 3.5 shots per game domestically and even in the UCL that has only dropped to three per game, despite the increase in quality of opposition. I’d expect him to start and he should have plenty of chances to score.

Jorginho to Commit 1 or more Fouls

One of the changes I’m expecting from Arsenal is for Jorginho to get minutes in midfield. With the top spot wrapped up it makes sense to rest some of their regular starters and with Jorginho starting more as a sub than in the starting XI, they should get him some match fitness.

He’s averaged 0.8 fouls per game in four Champions League games, despite two of those appearances being from the bench, which distorts the number. Given a full 90 minutes, or something close, he will almost certainly give away a foul.

Eddie Nketiah to have 1 or more Shots on Target

Another likely change for the Gunners will be for Eddie Nketiah to start. He’s yet to start in the Champions League and given that he isn’t first choice in the Premier League now that Gabriel Jesus is back, he should play here.

Anyone playing up front for this Arsenal team should be getting one shot on target per match and I’d expect that from Nketiah. He’s had 1.9 shots per game in the Premier League, despite six of his 15 appearances coming from the bench. He will get opportunities and he should get one or more on target.
