Wolves v Aston Villa

Diego Costa to Commit 2 or More Fouls

Diego Costa looks likely to lead the Wolves attacking line possibly alongside Matheus Cunha who could be recalled into the starting 11 after being rested in their 6-0 demolition away at Brighton last week. Costa has picked up just three cards so far this season for Wolves which does come as a surprise after seeing him pick up 10+ every season for Chelsea in his previous spell in the Premier League.

Costa does seem to have slowed down and is maybe not quite as aggressive as he was back then, however he is still involved in 14 duels per game, resulting in an average of 2.5 fouls committed per game. A big derby game here and one where Wolves can put a huge dent in Aston Villa’s European push, no doubt Costa will have a big role to play. Costa was also shown the yellow card the last time these sides met in January.

Matheus Cunha to Commit 2 or More Fouls

Matheus Cunha looks set to return to the Wolverhampton Wanderers line up after being rested last week. Prior to that game, Wolves were on a decent run which saw them collect nine points from a possible 12, where Cunha featured heavily including a phenomenal goal away at Leicester in a game where he was also shown a yellow card.

Cunha commits an average of 2.05 fouls per game and also wins a high 2.2 fouls per game, whilst being involved in 14 duels per game.

Ashley Young to Commit 1 or More Fouls

Ashley Young looks set to retain his place at right back for Aston Villa in place of the injured Matty Cash. Young has featured 27 times this season for Aston Villa which is quite remarkable given he turns 38 this summer.

Young has picked up five bookings so far this season for Villa and commits 1.17 fouls per game and receives 1.17 fouls per game whilst being involved in 7 duels per game. Young did look leggy when he was substituted against Manchester United last week and Wolves could attack that side given their pace in the wing back position.

John McGinn to Commit 2 or More Fouls

Aston Villa captain and Scotland midfielder John McGinn is back in form for Aston Villa. One of the first names on the team sheet and usually plays the full 90 minutes. McGinn has received five yellow cards so far this season for Aston Villa and commits an average of 1.2 fouls per game and receives 2.12. The Scottish international is involved in an average of 12 duels per game and rarely goes a game without committing a foul or two. This is a huge game for Aston Villa that they have to win if they are to make it into European competition next season, added to the fact it is a Midlands derby, this leg of the acca should land with ease.

The Man in the Middle – Stuart Atwell

The referee for this Premier League and Midland derby is Stuart Atwell. Atwell averages just under 20 fouls per game but we expect a higher-than-average amount of fouls at the Molineux given that it is a derby match.
