Brentford v Crystal Palace – Brentford to win

These teams are only four places apart in the league table but the gap has felt a lot wider than that in recent weeks. In form terms, they are polar opposites.

Brentford are top of the Premier League table for the last six matches, with four wins and two draws, and are also unbeaten in their last 10 games. Crystal Palace, by contrast, are winless in six and might have had fewer than three points from those games if VAR knew what the hell it was doing.

The Bees are favourites to win this fixture but their price should be even shorter so there’s value to be had in a home victory.

Brighton v Fulham – Moises Caicedo to commit two or more fouls

Moises Caicedo is back in the Brighton fold after a brief spell on the naughty step. Having had the temerity to angle for a move to a bigger club last month, the Ecuadorian made his first start for three weeks in the 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace last weekend.

And he came back in the only way he knows how, by committing two fouls. Caicedo is the division’s leading player for paying out on this particular bet. He was penalised three times when these sides met at Craven Cottage in August, so there’s no real reason to think he won’t commit two fouls here.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, chelsea

Chelsea v Southampton – Kai Havertz to have three or more shots

Southampton have a decent record at Stamford Bridge, having only lost one of their last five visits in regular time. Such has been Chelsea’s mediocre campaign, the expected goal data suggests backing the Saints to avoid defeat would be a sensible play.

But their results suggest that would be very risky, even though they dispensed with Nathan Jones last week. Whatever the outcome, Kai Havertz should be heavily involved.

In only one home start in all competitions this season has he failed to have a goal attempt, and he often has an effort on target too. As he’s had at least three shots in four of his last six matches, back Havertz to do the same here.

Everton v Leeds United – Over 2.5 goals

When these teams last clashed, back in August, Yank Lampard took on the real McCoy in the opposite dug out. Times have certainly changed for these clubs since.

Leeds were fifth in the table at that point, for one thing, yet they now possess the longest run without a win in the Premier League (nine games). They will find the Dychean Toffees tough to crack.

There should be goals though, whatever the outcome. The Whites only have one clean sheet on the road this term but they also create a decent number of chances.

Kevin de Bruyne, Man City

Nottingham Forest v Manchester City – Over 1.5 Home Team Cards

Manchester City won 6-0 when these teams last met, the second biggest victory enjoyed by any team in the Premier League this season. However, that was back in August and Nottingham Forest have signed a player or 20 since then.

This match should be closer. Another difference will be that Forest should pick up more than the one yellow card they received that night. It’s one of only four instances this season of a team facing City in the league and not getting at least two cards.

Steve Cooper’s side have also had that many in all but two of their home games this season. They’ll have to take at least two bookings here.

Wolverhampton v Bournemouth – Both teams to Score: No

We finish with a match that few people will mind not being televised. Wolves have played seven league games since they appointed Julian Lopetegui, and they have collectively seen 16 goals.

The three at Molineux have only featured five, and it would’ve been fewer if Liverpool knew how to defend. The one thing linking this trio of games is that one side scored nil every time.

Wolves and Bournemouth are both in the bottom three in the Premier League for matches in which both teams scored. While a 0-0 bore draw is a distinct possibility, at least one side failing to score looks a near certainty.
