Sunday 2pm: Manchester United v Leicester
TV: Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League

Manchester United to Win

Man United and Leicester used to be one of the most fun fixtures in the calendar, yano. That brief period of four years where Leicester were liable to score five or concede five – or even both, kind of aligned with the spell where United would also ship five on a near-regular basis.

At least my selective recollection informs me of same. United have stabilised somewhat and returned to the form you’d come to expect of a squad with so many good players.

And yet they’re still getting suggestions that the likes of Fred are key cogs in their squad. But in all seriousness, the only major disappointment in the league over the last while was the one-all draw with Palace.

At home, they’ve been fiercely impressive. Minus the hiccup against Leeds that still saw them come from behind, their last Old Trafford nightmare was on the opening day of the season.

Yes, we could be headed for another spell of Stretford dominance. It hurts so many 90s children to their cores, but ultimately we’ve had a good run of the mortifying results in exchange.

Their recent for at home reads: DWWWWWWDWW. The draws in that time were essentially a derby against Leeds who at the time were responding to the sacking of a manager (stop me if you’ve heard that before) and a clean sheet against Newcastle.

You’d take it, like. I was slightly sceptical of the nature of these results early-on, simply because they were clean sheet-dependent, but now we’ve moved onto outscoring teams again, which shows the results aren’t one-dimensional.

And, perhaps more importantly, Leicester haven’t drawn a game away from home all year. If they have a point, they won’t sit on it – meaning we can essentially waive the threat of a draw from the equation and back Manchester United to Win.

Erik ten Hag

Over 3.5 Goals

The 2-0 win over Leeds was United’s first Premier League game in their last six that didn’t see both teams scoring. You can chalk that down to learning a lesson from playing the same opposition only four days beforehand when they went two-nil down early.

Erik ten Hag opens games up and focuses United on being threatening rather than passive, and it shows, as United have seen their games produce twenty-two goals since the New Year. Over 3.5 Goals certainly catches the eye.

Marcus Rashford to Score Anytime

Marcus Rashford hit a run of form early in his career where it looked like he’d be a genuine goalscoring threat week in, week out. But he was very young to try and solidify that streak.

Now that he’s matured, he’s evolving alongside the psychological boost that scoring goals gives you, and is now coming up against one of the worst defensive units in the league. Rashford to Score Anytime looks a very solid bet.

James Madison to be Carded

One of my favourite things about James Madison is that he combines brilliant technical ability with pure petulance. He doesn’t quite have the cult-like blind following of Son Heung-Min who still gets called a nice bloke despite being a dirty footballer, but because he’s young, has nice hair and is on the cusp of the England squad, nobody says boo.

Well, he’s picking up 0.38 yellow cards per game which ranks among the highest in the league for players with five bookings or more. With this United midfield, I’d suspect a drag-back and for Madison to be Carded.
