Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson is gearing up for another flurry of football and has turned his attention to Sunday evening’s match where it’s Aston Villa v Chelsea. With a bumper festive fixture list on the horizon there’s only one man fit for the job of guiding us through the tipping maze – our Thommo.
He’s linked up with the good folk at PPTV to shake down Sunday’s action and this Villa v Chelsea game looks a tasty one. Is it too close to call or will someone steal the spoils? Here’s Thommo’s Aston Villa v Chelsea tips.
TV: Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Showcase
Chelsea have won just three of their last eight, and they’ve started conceding goals now. However, they’ve scored 17 on the road this term which is quite a healthy number.
I think Thomas Tuchel will be quite happy with the Wolves game. He moaned that he had a lot of Covid cases, and I do sympathise with how they weren’t treated the same as other sides, but he will be happy with the 0-0 and the clean sheet as they had been shipping too many.
As for Stevie G, they’ve won two of the three games at Villa Park. I’m really tempted with this one to go for a Villa Win but… Chelsea will want to come back to form. I can’t split them, so I am going for Both Teams to Score and The Draw.
I always look for good value in the goal scorer markets and I think we’re going to get it with Mason Mount. He’s scored in four of his last five Premier League outings and he’s had a really good run. I would go for Mount to Score Anytime and I would go for Ollie Watkins to Score Anytime for Villa.
