Why is the footballing world caving in around itself? It feels like every big club is going through crisis – sacking or at least suggesting sacking their manager – Juventus, Barcelona, Man United – and ehh.. Spurs.

But what kind of people would we be to revel in their misery? Well, I’ll tell you what kind of people we’d be. People who are a good laugh; that’s the kind.

And for all that the focus might be on the managerial side of things, at least with big clubs, we can understand where the focus lies.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

The players truly aren’t the problem, despite Max Allegri saying Juve are a midtable team and Ronald Koeman effectively saying the same before being booted.

No, sometimes it is just as simple as the wrong fit. And when it comes to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the only real fit for him is probably him in the fetal position, curled up inside Alex Ferguson’s shadow.

Let’s take advantage of managerial uncertainty affecting prices, as we once again combine the glory of the Champions League and Championship on a wet Tuesday night.

At time of writing, it’s Monday – but it’s going to be wet somewhere and that’s a roll of the dice I’m willing to take.

19:45: Birmingham City v Bristol City – Birmingham to Win

I’ll be honest, I went more with a theme than a hunch on this acca – and it was primarily based around managerial uncertainty.

Lee Bowyer went from being the first manager since the 1980s to oversee a Blues side without a goal in as many games – and now he’s on the Barry Fry-level upward trajectory of hype simply off the back of two good results.

But It’s not just the results. The performances have been indicative that early-season form has returned to St. Andrew’s and that’s ominous for midweek visitors.

20:00: Atalanta v Man United – Atalanta to Win

Just to be clear, Cristiano Ronaldo is still one of the best players on the planet. But just to be clearer, due to his age now actively going backwards, he’s less likely to produce in key moments when you constantly ask him to.

And that’s what United are doing here. And Portugal for that matter, but forget the bitterness for a second.

He recused them in the first of these clashes and now going to Italy makes it twice as difficult. Ole is a tad comfier and they’re probably losing out on the Antonio Conte stakes.

United players simply won’t stand for it, and the narrative will revert to Mauricio Pochettino by this time Wednesday morning.

20:00: Dynamo Kiev v Barcelona – Barcelona to Win

Barcelona aren’t actually bad. They’re a weird mix of too old and too young, with an entire generation kind of forgotten between the outgoing supremos being masked by Messi and the younger generation being seemingly good enough to bridge a few years until their next big spend.

Well, now the proverbial excrement has hit the fan. But you are not allowed to tell me that you don’t believe this to be a backable price. Barca are comfortably favourited to win here and just because Kiev is considered eastern Europe does not mean it’s a difficult place to go, Sky Sports punditry.

20:00: Juventus v Zenit – Juventus to Win

Max Allegri has lit a fire and it will probably consume him in due course, but until then, there’s simply too many good players in this unit to not win a game at home to Zenit, especially as they’ve just done away with them in Russia. This is the most generous price of the week.
