Paddy’s hall of fame: Punter cash out nabs over £6,000 from 14-leg acca

Big call to make - thinik they got it right

To cash out or not cash out, that is the question – or at least it would be if Willie Shakespeare has been writing about the four-digit punt he put together on Saturday’s coupon.

It’s never easy to know whether you should take the offer on your weekend acca or suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune and let your stake ride come what may.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

One punter from Caerdydd had to make the call on Sunday, with their £1 wager on a 14-leg mammoth bet at total odds of 14,186/1 – and they may have threaded the needle pretty well between wussing out on their big boy bet and mugging themselves out of a tasty payoff.

It started out with a few in-play punts – Valladolid already 2-0 versus Tenerife at a short, short 1/10 – as well as the draw between Eintracht and Stuttgart in the Bundesliga at 3/4. But there were a few bigger calls too as Valencia pumped Osasuna 4-1 at odds of just under 7/2 and Cardiff came from a goal down to beat lowly Forest 2-1.

They also picked Milan to take care of Lazio, Hertha Berlin to knock off Bundesliga new boys Bochum, and Gladbach beat another promoted team in Bielefeld.

There was then Lyon’s win against some team that’s not PSG – ok, I looked it up, Strasbourg – and Real Sociedad had Cadiz in a spin thanks to two goals from Mikel Oyarzabal.

That’s nine correct picks already. Phew. Add in Liverpool spanking Leeds, and our punter had a perfect ten for their quid.

And that’s where our punter chose to cash out to the tune of £6,271.

That may have had something to do with Real Madrid contriving to fall behind to Celta Vigo – twice – in the first half of their La Liga clash.

Naturally, Los Blancos went on to cruise to a 5-2 win which would’ve probably added another grand to the payout.

And if the bet had still been a going concern we’d reckon our punter would’ve been running about like Jose after Stephen El Shaarawy’s last-minute winner for Roma v Sassuolo as that would’ve been 12 from 12.

And later, Flamengo took down Palmeiras in the Brazilian Serie A, just as our punter had bet they would, so you might think they made the wrong call – but Genk’s draw in the Belgian league against Union St Gilloise would’ve cost them the lot.

So cash out or no cash out – when you end up with £6,271 from  £1 bet, that’s not a bad result.
