Daniel Levy offers Antonio Conte 18-day contract after Nuno sacking

Conte in... for how long?

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has offered Antonio Conte an 18-day contract, Paddy Power News understands.

Levy and managing director Fabio Paratici are in advanced negotiations with the former Inter Milan boss having dismissed Nuno Espirito Santo following Spurs’ 3-0 defeat by Manchester United.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Tottenham spoke to Conte in the summer but an agreement could not be reached and the club went for 22nd choice Nuno instead.

‘Conte is the type of manager I like at Tottenham, mainly because he’s been sacked by Chelsea’, Levy told Paddy Power News.

‘I’ve offered Antonio an 18-day contract with the option of an extra day and a transfer kitty of 7 quid’.

‘I hope he can get the best out of our players, particularly Harry Kane, who almost broke into a jog at one point against Manchester United’.

It’s understood Conte has identified which Spurs players he will fallout with and has already offered his resignation twice.

‘I’m looking forward to being sacked by Mr Levy’, the 52-year-old told Paddy Power News.

‘So many other coaches in world football have “sacked by Spurs” on their CVs. I was beginning to feel left out’.

The former Italian national coach revealed how he watched Saturday’s clash between Tottenham and Manchester United in anticipation of an approach from either club.

‘I knew the chairman of whichever team lost that game would be sliding into my DMs by midnight’.

‘Sure enough, my phone blew up around 11.30pm with a message from Daniel Levy saying: ‘U up? Xx’.

Conte also revealed how he throttled his assistant Angelo Alessio when Eric Dier played Edinson Cavani onside for Manchester United’s second goal.

‘When Dier stood there like a statue with his arm in the air I grabbed Angelo by the body warmer and swung him about the hotel room’.

‘Some people might say that is harsh because it had nothing to do with Angelo but ah shaddap you face’.

Meanwhile, Levy also confirmed that a statue of Cristiano Ronaldo is to be erected outside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for his role in getting Conte’s into the club.
