I never thought I’d see the day where a game between Sweden and the Ukraine would provide the more exciting attacking style of play resulting in plenty of goals over a game featuring England and Germany on the same night. But alas, here we are.
Personally, I’d be heavily advocating #SouthgateOut at this stage, because sure, it’s nice to win games, but they’ve just been so damned boring to watch!
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
Andriy Shevchenko has brought a lot of excitement to the tournament so far with his Ukrainian side, scoring absolute belters against the Netherlands and tearing poor North Macedonia to pieces.
Even if they ended up finishing third in their group, they’ve been exciting to watch and now come to face a Swedish side that are as sturdy defensively as IKEA furniture, with players like Alexander Isak and Emil Forsberg up front who will frustrate defences as much as IKEA instructions. Now let’s get to seeing what we can put in a Bet Builder for this game.
Tuesday 8pm: Sweden v Ukraine
BBC One and BBC iPlayer/ RTE 2
Sweden to Win
Sweden are in a great place at the moment, with bright young talent coming through, and Alexander Isak a good threat up top. They should have too much for their opponents here with the healthy blend of a rigid defensive structure and talent in the final third.
Over 2.5 Goals
This game could have goals, irrespective of how well Sweden defend. Andriy Yarmalenko can score from absolutely anywhere, and Roman Yaremchuk has impressed in the Ukraine attack too.
Alexander Isak to Have Two or More Shots on Target
A young lad who plays with talent beyond his years, he’s created a number of exceptional chances for Sweden at the tournament so far, frustrating every defender in his wake, and he’s just so much fun to watch. With Denzel Dumfries out of the competition, we all need a new man to back, and I’m calling Isak.
Emil Forsberg to Score Anytime
Forsberg has three goals at the tournament so far and could still be a steal to win top goalscorer. He’s sturdy, strong and a confident finisher of the ball who’s only growing in confidence as the tournament goes on.
Roman Yaremchuk to Have One or More Shots on Target
Yaremchuk is the main man up top for Ukraine. He’s able to sniff out goal chances, and is a proven clinical finisher at Gent who’s likely to create himself a chance or two on the day.
