England will have to do things the hard way if they’re to end 55 years of hurt this summer. The Three Lions went into the European Championship as one of the teams to beat but a tricky path to the final has been set.
Group A: Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, Wales
Group B: Belgium, Russia, Denmark, Finland
Group C: Ukraine, Netherlands, Austria, North Macedonia
Group D: England, Croatia, Czech Republic, Scotland
Group E: Spain, Poland, Sweden, Slovakia
Group F: Germany, France, Portugal, Hungary
We’ve detailed England’s route to the Euros showpiece after topping Group D, which means a challenging last-16 fixture at Wembley lies in wait…
England 1 Croatia 0
(Raheem Sterling, 57)
Czech Republic 0 England 1
(Raheem Sterling, 12)
England won Group D so they have progressed to a last-16 tie against the runner-up from the Group of Death, which turned out to be the Three Lions’ old rivals Germany. Anyone for penalties?
England vs Germany
Tuesday June 29 @ 5pm
England are the highest-ranked team on their side of the draw so winning Group D could turn out to be a masterstroke if the last-16 tie against Germany is successfully negotiated. The Three Lions are on course to face Sweden or Ukraine in the quarter-finals.
England vs Group E Winners or 3rd Group A/B/C/D
Saturday July 3 @ 8pm
England would face the winner of the quarter-final between Wales/Denmark v Netherlands/Czech Republic on Wednesday July 7 at 8pm at Wembley Stadium if they reach the last four of the competition.
If England reach the showpiece on Sunday July 11 at 8pm then they would have the chance to claim their first international trophy in 55 years in front of a home crowd at Wembley. We’re currently offering odds of 11/2 that the Three Lions win the Euros – and you can check out our outright winner market in full by clicking HERE.
