Blackpool v Plymouth: Blackpool to win

Blackpool have risen from mid-table obscurity to automatic promotion challengers in the space of a few short weeks. The Tangerines are unbeaten in their 10 ten games and are now just 10 points off second-placed Peterborough with two games in hand.

A top two finish still appears unlikely, but it is not outside the realms of possibility. They simply have to claim a home victory against a Plymouth side that has lost five of their last six games and appear to be looking towards their summer holidays.

Bristol Rovers v Sunderland: Sunderland to win

Sunderland are another side whose recent form has propelled them into a promotion race and Lee Johnson’s side find themselves in a far more favourable position than Blackpool in the race for the top two. Sunderland can go top if they win their games in hand and will look to continue their excellent form with a win at relegation-threatened Bristol Rovers.

The Black Cats are unbeaten in their last nine – winning seven – and will hope to see off a Bristol outfit that has lost their last three games. With just one defeat on their travels this season, Sunderland boast the third-best away record in League One and should have enough to conquer Bristol on Saturday afternoon.

Hull v Gillingham: Hull to win

Hull looked in danger of losing their way in their bid to win promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking, but they have rediscovered their form at just the right time. The Tigers have recovered from damaging defeats to Ipswich, MK Dons, and Burton to collect 13 points from their last 15 and propel themselves back to the summit of League One.

They have little room for error however, and need to beat play-off-chasing Gillingham on Saturday or they will give up significant ground to a congested chasing pack. Gillingham have taken 13 points from their last 18 and currently find themselves just two points off the top six, although they have played three games more than sixth-placed Blackpool.

Defeat at Hull would deal a hammer blow to their promotion hopes and The Tigers may just have enough to see them off.

AFC Wimbledon vs Northampton: Wimbledon to win

Both sides need to avoid defeat in this relegation six-pointer, but Wimbledon desperately need a home win to give themselves a fighting chance in the final nine games of the season. A victory on Saturday could potentially lift the Dons out of the bottom four and they need to put a damaging seven-game winless run behind them if they are to take a huge scalp.

They should be encouraged by Northampton’s dismal away record over the past five months. The Cobblers have failed to win an away league games since a win at Burton Albion in November, a streak stretching over 12 league games. They boast the joint-worst away record in the entire division and Wimbledon can have no excuses if they fail to muster a season-changing win on Saturday.

League One tips summary:

Blackpool v Plymouth: Blackpool to win
Bristol Rovers v Sunderland: Sunderland to win
Hull v Gillingham: Hull to win
AFC Wimbledon vs Northampton: Wimbledon to win
