There’s a bumper weekend in store for EFL fans with FIVE games live on Sky Sports across Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Along with three Championship fixtures we’ve got two EFL Trophy finals at Wembley to get stuck into as the 2020 and 2021 finals are played on consecutive days.

Let’s get stuck in.

Friday 19:45: Blackburn v Brentford – Brentford to Win

Brentford need to collect a vital three points at Ewood Park to give their automatic promotion chances a shot in the arm and put pressure on the teams above them who play later in the weekend. They should have no real trouble against a Blackburn side that has one of their last nine games and taken two points from their last four home games.

However, Brentford have not been in excellent form themselves and have only taken one more point than Blackburn over the last six league games in a spell that has seen four defeats. The Bees haven’t played since March 3 after a coronavirus outbreak at Rotherham forced their last game to be postponed and they should be well-rested going into this one, paving the way for a nervy away win.

Saturday 12:15: Luton v Swansea – Draw

Swansea’s form has dipped somewhat since their impressive win over Norwich in February, and they have failed to really take advantage of Brentford’s mini-collapse. The Swans have jumped above Brentford in the Championship table, but they could have put real daylight between them if they had put a run of wins together.

Instead, Swansea have taken just ten points from six very winnable games and look somewhat nervous as the Championship season approaches the business end. They may struggle to break down a Luton side that is comfortably mid-table following a very decent season so far.

Saturday 15:00: Portsmouth v Salford – Portsmouth to Win

Portsmouth and Salford finally meet in the EFL Trophy final more than one year after their respective semi-final wins over Exeter and Newport. Victory for Portsmouth will see them retain the trophy for exactly one day with this season’s final set to take place on Sunday. Both clubs head into this one in terrible form and could use the momentum of a cup final win to reignite their faltering promotion push.

Portsmouth have taken one point from their last four games and are looking nervously over their shoulder at a cluster of teams within three points of them in the race for the play-off places. Salford have taken six points from their last six games in a run that has seen them fall out of the League Two play-off places. Portsmouth should have just about too much quality on Saturday, however.

Sunday 12:15: Sheffield Wednesday v Norwich – Norwich to Win

Norwich’s return to the Premier League already looks guaranteed with 11 games to go in the Championship season. Daniel Farke’s side are ten points clear of third-placed Swansea following a run of seven straight wins and unsurprisingly top the Championship form table.

TV: Sky Sports Football

Sheffield Wednesday, meanwhile, look like they have already accepted their relegation to League One after a damaging run of six straight defeats left them seven points adrift from safety. There can surely only be one winner on Sunday, even though anyone can beat anyone in the Championship.

Sunday 15:00: Sunderland v Tranmere – Sunderland to Win

Sunderland suffered final heartbreak against Portsmouth in this very tournament two years ago and have a golden opportunity to put that penalty shootout defeat behind them. While Portsmouth will be hoping a cup final win can inspire a good run of form, Sunderland approach this game as the form team in League One and will be hoping that that form continues on Sunday.

TV: Sky Sports Football

The Black Cats have taken 19 points from their last available 21 and should have too much for promotion-chasing Tranmere, who have also taken 13 points from their last 18 in their bid for promotion from League Two.
