Brentford to win
Newcastle approach this League Cup quarter final on the back of a very mixed run of results in the league. Steve Bruce’s side wilted against Leeds in the league last Wednesday, conceding three goals in a 20-minute capitulation at Elland Road, while they failed to beat a Fulham side that played for most of the second half with ten men on Saturday evening.
The Magpies had previously beaten West Brom and Crystal Palace in consecutive games and had lost comprehensively to Chelsea and Southampton in the two games before that. All told, it has been a mixed bag for Newcastle and they may rest players ahead of a trip to a vulnerable Manchester City on Boxing Day.

Brentford, meanwhile, have been steadily rising up the Championship table as they make up for a slow start. The Bees are unbeaten in their last 13 league games and currently sit in fourth place after a poor beginning saw them lose three of their first seven games.
They have already accounted for Premier League opposition in the League Cup this season and could do so again on Tuesday night with a Brentford Win.
Ivan Toney to score anytime
Brentford’s rise up the Championship table owes a debt of gratitude to the form of new signing Ivan Toney, who has scored nine goals in their 13-game unbeaten run. Many of Toney’s goals for the Bees have been match-winners or equalisers and his goals have earned Brentford eight points in their last 13 games.
In total, Toney has scored 16 times for Brentford this season, winning 13 points for the club. Toney has come up trumps against Brentford’s promotion rivals and seems to have a knack for scoring important goals.
He has already proved to be the man for the big occasion and has picked up where Ollie Watkins left off last season. He is in form and has a great chance of finding the back of the net on Tuesday so we’re on Ivan Toney to Score Anytime.
Over 2.5 goals
Brentford will likely have to score twice if they are to win this game. For all their positive form in the league, the Bees have been somewhat leaky at the back in recent games, conceding five goals in their last five. Last season’s beaten play-off finalists have the worst defensive record of the top six this season and could struggle against a Premier League team.
However, they also boast the second-best goalscoring record in the division and are more than capable of scoring twice against a Newcastle side that has kept just two league clean sheets all season. Over 2.5 Goals could be a good play on Tuesday.
