The Carabao Cup quarter-finals continue on Wednesday with Manchester United making the trip to Goodison Park to face Everton.

The Red Devils are on a seven-game unbeaten run in domestic matches and head into this clash on the back of a thumping 6-2 win over Leeds on Sunday.

Despite this, Paddy Power football trader Brian McDonnell is backing the Toffees to pull of a result on home turf here – check out his preview with PPTV’s Graham Temple in the video below:

Everton v Manchester United [8.00pm] – Everton to win

Manchester United are on great form and are up to third in the league, but Everton are also on a good run. Both the teams are actually level on points in the league, although United do have a game in hand and if they win that they go two points behind Liverpool. I think this one is set up to be a cracker.

For all the criticism Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been getting, United have quietly been going about getting the results – especially away from home. Six wins out of six in the league, and we know how effective United are sitting in deep, inviting teams onto them and breaking fast.

We’ve already seen them do it at Goodison Park earlier on in the season, back in November. They went there and won 3-1 so it might surprise you to hear that I’m actually tipping up Everton to win this one. I think they’re just the value pick at the prices.

If you look at the prices that Man Utd went off at away to Everton in the league a couple of weeks ago, they’re around the same price to win this one as well. But I think they’re more likely to rotate their team than Everton are, so that’s why Everton are the value pick.

I think Everton will go near full-strength for this game. They had rested players at the start of his competition, but in their last round against West Ham they went full strength. They had Dominic Calvert-Lewin, James Rodriguez, Richarlison and Allan all starting that one and they won 4-1.

Man Utd are more likely to rotate. They had Diogo Dalot, Brandon Williams and Odion Ighalo starting in the previous round against Brighton. I don’t think Ighalo is necessarily going to start this one, but I think they will have players like Juan Mata, Donny van de Beek, Mason Greenwood and Dan James – I know he played at the weekend against Leeds.

These are very good players but they haven’t been getting as much game time as the Everton squad have and I think if these are playing Man United’s price should be a bit bigger than it was when they went to Everton in the league.

Everton themselves are on a good run of form. They beat Chelsea, Leicester and Arsenal in their last three games so I just think looking at the prices at the moment I think Everton are too big. Once the teams are announced an hour before kickoff, you might see Everton’s price shortening and Man United’s price get bigger. So that’s why, for me, just looking at the prices. I think Everton are the value pick to beat Man United.
