Liverpool legend and Paddy’s football ambassador Phil Thompson has linked up with PPTV once again to give you the inside track on what’s going to happen in the English top flight this weekend.
Unsurprisingly Thommo thinks Liverpool will beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in Saturday’s early game and he’s backing Sadio Mane to rediscover his goal-scoring form in style.
There shouldn’t be a slip up here but we always go back to that famous 3-3 game which was partly the reason Liverpool didn’t win the title that year. But in recent years Liverpool have got a very good record at Crystal Palace.
Palace have not done badly this season. As we know Christian Benteke got a red card in the last game and he’d just started scoring goals. That might work in Liverpool’s favour.
Saturday 12.30pm: Crystal Palace v Liverpool BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Ultimate
Palace are unbeaten in three, which is good for them in the Premier League, but they’ve had no clean sheets in the last 12 games. So they’ve obviously got a poor defence. On the other hand, Liverpool are the Premier League’s top goal scorers with 29 goals.
I’m not sure Liverpool will hit the heights that they did against Spurs, performance wise, but I think they’ll be too good for Crystal Palace.
THOMMO’S TIPS:Injuries are piling up but I do fancy Liverpool to win this game 3-1. Sadio Mane’s not scored for a while. He’ll be a decent bet and I’m going for Sadio Mane to score 2 or more goals. You get the feeling when they haven’t scored for a while, they’re due one, like Roberto Firmino the other night.
