You’d expect a little bit of a hangover around Rangers after their first title in 10 years, but it’s not really been like that. Sure, they’ve not quite been at the level they reached last year, certainly not defensively.

Last season they conceded an astonishing 13 goals in 38 games on the way to a monster 102 points. This term they’ve been more slack at the back, shipping 10 in just 11 games. They’re still top, mind.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Rangers head their old friends Celtic by just two points and, with The Bhoys winning their last four, nothing less than a win against 6th-placed Motherwell will do on Sunday. It looks like Celtic have sorted themselves out after a slow start and we could be in for a proper title race for the first time in a decade.

To Sunday, then, where The Gers are big favourites heading to Fir Park. I’ll do my best to unearth some prudent punts for you and, without anymore waffle, here’s your 3 best bets for Motherwell v Rangers on Sunday lunchtime.

Short-priced Punt: Rangers to Win

You’re not going to get rich backing Rangers to Win here but it’s called the short-priced punt for a reason. What I’m saying is, this feels like a safe one to place in any accas you might fancy on Sunday. Rangers have failed to win just once on the road, their one defeat of the season away at Dundee United on the second weekend of the season.

The Well are in shoddy form and they drew last time out before losing the three prior. By way of comparison, Celtic strolled to an easy 2-0 win at Fir Park two weeks ago and I’d be expecting something similar from Rangers, who are really good on the road, here. Motherwell scabbed a 1-1 draw at Ibrox earlier in the season, scoring with their one shot on target, but they were in much better form then than they are now.

Value Play: Kemar Roofe to Score First

Kemar Roofe has been in fine fettle for the champions this season, netting eight times in 15 appearances in all competitions. He leads Alfredo Morelos by three goals at the top of the Gers’ goal-scoring charts.

Of the last four he’s scored in the league, all of them have come as Rangers’ first of the game. In a game I’m expecting the away side to dominate it might well pay for him to repeat that trick and for Kemar Roofe to Score First.

Long Shot: Rangers to Win 2-1

As alluded to earlier Rangers have been pretty leaky at the back. They’ve conceded in each of their last four Premiership games and have only had two clean sheets all season. While not in good form, Motherwell have still been finding the net with regularity, scoring in seven of their last nine league games.

There’s been plenty of goals flying about with these two and I expect we’ll see the same here again. I’m backing Rangers to win but I do think they’ll concede making this Rangers to Win 2-1 punt really appealing at a juicy price.

Bizarrely the table-toppers have only scored more than two in the league once this season but they have scored twice in three of their last four. If you fancy chancing your arm a bit, Rangers to Win 2-1 might be the punt at big odds that has the best chance of landing in this game.
