Man City (-2)
Fulham surprised almost everyone last week with a hugely impressive win at Leicester, but there is little chance of them repeating the trick on Saturday. The newly-promoted side have been awful for the most part and there is no evidence to suggest that their performance on Monday night was anything more than a flash in the pan. Scott Parker’s side boast the worst defensive record in the league and are the exact type of team that Pep Guardiola’s Man City would trounce in the past.
City, however, have not been themselves this season and had struggled for goals prior to their convincing 5-0 win over Burnley last weekend. That game should have given the lift they needed and they should have more joy against a Cottagers side that is most definitely on Burnley’s level.
Ferran Torres to score anytime
It is remarkable how many goals Ferran Torres has managed to score this season that don’t actually matter. City’s new signing has scored five times since joining from Valencia and all five have come in convincing wins. Most of his goals have come in the latter stages of games when the result has long been wrapped up, and it feels like a home game against Fulham is tailor-made for Torres at the moment.
City are likely to be in cruise control by the hour mark on Saturday afternoon and there should be plenty of opportunities for City’s front three to go and get their name on the scoresheet. Torres, who has been very good even if his goals have proved unimportant, can take advantage of Fulham’s less-than-impressive defending this season to add to his growing tally.
Over 4.5 goals
Prior to their 5-0 win against Burnley, City had been struggling for goals in the league. However, they showed signs of life in that win over Burnley and will look to kick on this Saturday. Even at their lowest ebb last season, City proved more than capable of beating the bottom teams in the league by five goals or more and this game feels no different.
Guardiola’s side are obviously miles off the levels they achieved between 2017 and 2019, but they are still more than capable of dishing out the hammerings we have become accustomed to – especially against a Fulham outfit that has conceded almost two goals a game on average. City have also struggled at the back this season, however, and it wouldn’t be hugely surprising if Fulham managed to nick a consolation goal on Saturday afternoon.
