The Europa League last 16 is nearly here, with the eight group-stage kings joined by the eight knockout play-off round winner to compete for a place in the quarter-finals.

All of the British teams left in the competition topped their respective groups so avoided having to play one of the teams dropping down from the Champions League earlier on.

The group winners will also be seeded in the draw, meaning in theory they should get an easier opponent. All eight of the unseeded teams were finalised after the play-off round was completed on Thursday, February 22.

The draw for the Europa League last-16 draw is scheduled to take place on Friday, February 23.

The Europa League last-16 draw will begin at 11 am and will be available to watch on the UEFA website.

Europa League last-16 rules

No team from the same country can be drawn against each other at this stage.

Each tie will be played over two legs, with the seeded teams at home in the second leg. If the tie is level at the end of the second leg, extra time and penalties will be played with no away goal rule in place.

When are the Europa League last-16 ties?

The first legs will be played on Thursday, March 7 followed by the return fixture a week later on Thursday, March 14.
