Following Newcastle’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth, Kieran Trippier found himself involved in an altercation with one of his own fans at the end of the game.
Naturally the incident was played down by both Trippier and his manager Eddie Howe, with the defender suggesting he told the supporter the players were giving everything and pointed out how many injuries the side has.
Hmm… we saw the footage, didn’t look like a friendly old chat, did it?
Paddy Power News has looked at the possible things Trippier could have said during his interchange with the Newcastle United supporter whilst tempers flared.
Are Ant & Dec as nice IRL?
Apparently since moving from Atletico Madrid, Tripps still hasn’t met the comedy duo which has left him rattled. They’ve even been to the cinema with Manquillo but not him.
Are you concerned your expectations for our success are a little unrealistic?
Not sure what world most Newcastle fans live in, but if many expecting to win the title this season, perhaps Trippier wasn’t having it.
Signing Asprilla in ’96 prevented Newcastle winning the league: change my mind.
He may have given the fan a chance to put his case across, however, did the Toon Army really need Asprilla when they had Ginola and Ferdinand? Like a lot of people, Trippier’s not convinced.
Newcastle Brown Ale tastes weird
It would have turned into a Royal Rumble if he had said this, so we can safely rule it out.
Whatever happened to Andy Carroll?
A Newcastle hero who has gone off the radar. With the injury list they’ve got, maybe Trippier was thinking about getting the big man back in on loan.
Kevin Keegan was a lovely bloke but had the tactical awareness of a fish
Sacrilege.
Do you think Alan Shearer regrets not joining Man United?
He would have won it all if he had gone there, not that any Newcastle supporter or Alan Shearer himself would ever admit he made the wrong choice. An argument starter if ever there was one.
Winning the Carabao Cup will be a success
It’s a Mickey Mouse Cup until the final, and then it becomes important. Maybe Tripps should ask the fan again on the morning of the final if they get there.
