Rated and Slated: The best – and worst – kits in the Premier League this season

Some beauties here. And United away.

Has anybody else noticed a rise in PSG, Real Madrid and Argentina shirts worn by non-PSG, Real Madrid or Argentina supporting youngsters these days?

As kids, and even as adults, most of us wouldn’t have been found dead in a football top that wasn’t of the side we support, even if it was the grey Man United away kit that the players claimed made each other invisible.

No matter on the look, colour, style or price, fans up and down the country continue to spend their hard-earned cash on the latest replica kit and quite frankly, we think the manufacturers are taking the p*ss with some of their latest designs.

Paddy Power News calls upon the in-house fashion expert to critique the three worst kits ahead of the new season.

Arsenal away – where nu-rave meets building site health & safety

If you ever went to a Klaxons gig during the 2007 nu-rave era, or if you’ve ever found yourself labouring on a building site, the Arsenal away shirt could be for you! However, you could just get a high-vis vest from Screwfix and scribble black lines on it. If you look at it for too long you could go blind.

Manchester United away – based on an ugly looking building… seriously?

Confirmed by the United marketing team, the new black, white, green, and red away kit has been inspired by architecture and local buildings in Manchester. These buildings are black with green window frames. How inspired.

Nottingham Forest home – snooze

There’s minimalistic and then there’s just boring. This top is fresh out of the Sports Direct basics range, just with a Forest badge on it. If you are struggling to drop off to sleep, take a peep at this kit.

OK, maybe we’ve been hyper-critical above. What do we know about fashion anyway? Here’s our favourite three for the season ahead.

Fulham away – Barbie would be proud

With Barbie culture taking over the world, Fulham have come up trumps with their glorious pink away kit. On-trend, on-point, and very, very pink.

Liverpool away – we heart the 90s

A remake of the 1996 green and white away kit has us thinking about Robbie Fowler and Steve McManaman. A classic shirt remade in a very nice way. It was worn by Liverpool in their FA Cup final defeat, a day famous in fashion history. Maybe Nike could make some white suits too?

Forest away – World Cup winners

The away kit is everything the home kit is not. Surely, it’s based on the Argentina national shirt? Perhaps done to inspire success, so let’s see if Brennan Johnson turns into Lionel Messi. It is a lovely design and easy on the eye, that’s for sure!
