Harrowing footage has emerged of England captain and Spurs hostage Harry Kane stating that his captors are treating him well.
The 30-year-old, wearing a Tottenham jersey, was filmed from the waist up and talking to the camera in the video posted on the north London football club’s official website.
Kane remains Tottenham’s captive after a failed rescue bid by German outfit Bayern Munich, who are trying to negotiate the striker’s release.
‘I am safe and my captors are treating me well,’ Kane said on the video.
‘They have fed me and I am good health. Some might say good enough to pass a medical,’ he added, while discreetly winking at the camera.
Paddy Power News understands the three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner is surviving on rations of £200k-per-week and living in cramped conditions in his £17 million Essex mansion.
‘I am extremely happy here at Tottenham and would like to extend my contract at the earliest opportunity’, Kane said, in comments he is likely to have been told to make by his captors.
‘Trophies mean nothing to me’, he signs off, before an unidentified bald man appears and places a hood over his head.
Bayern Munich said in a statement today that they were relieved to see Kane in the video but added that it was ‘clearly distressing’ to see him in those circumstances.
According to fellow hostage Kylian Mbappé, the video is aimed at causing the maximum stress to the Bayern board.
The 24-year-old Frenchman, who was taken hostage in Paris in 2017 and has been held for more than six years, was given a Paris Saint Germain jersey, similar to what Kane was seen wearing in the video apparently posted by Tottenham Hotspur.
‘Free the Tottenham one,’ shouted Mbappé at the end of a video posted by his Parisian captors.
