It’s not right for the owner to come into the dressing and give team talks like Todd Boehly did at Chelsea last week.
We had it a couple of times at Portsmouth where Milan Mandaric came in and did similar.
It never ends well
One time, we hadn’t won in a month and he came in after a game and said “We’re not paying you this month”!
We all asked why, and he said “you haven’t won – what am I paying you for?”

I was still a young player, I didn’t have a mortgage, a family and everything else, so I kind of understood it really, but the rest of the lads were not too happy and said you can’t just not pay us because we haven’t won.
And there were other things too, like when he’d come down he’d be calling it “the locker room” with an American accent.
You just couldn’t take it seriously
For me it just stinks of someone who doesn’t understand the football culture. Club owners in England very rarely go into the dressing room. It’s different in the US.
Over there, they are lifting the trophy and everything! That’s not what happens here.
