Boehly: Lampard Chelsea tip is the funniest thing Corden’s ever done

He's played you there, Todd

Recommending Frank Lampard to manage Chelsea is the funniest thing comedian James Corden has ever done – according to the club’s owner Todd Boehly.

Prankster Corden, who is friendly with Boehly, tricked the American billionaire owner into bringing Lampard back to Stamford Bridge on an interim basis until the end of the season.

Unbeknownst to Boehly, Corden is a diehard West Ham United fan who is desperate to see the Blues demoted to the Championship.

The LA-based funnyman unveiled the prank during Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid last night, leaving Boehly and his staff in floods of tears.

Corden and his crew burst into Boehly’s box at the Bernabeu and revealed that recommending Lampard was all part of an elaborate plot to get Chelsea relegated.

‘Oh, you son-of-a-b*tch, Corden. You got me good and proper’, laughed Boehly while slapping his thigh.

When The Late Late Show host asks Boehly if he suspected anything, the 49-year-old admits:

‘When I saw Frank’s resume included “sacked by Everton” and “rejected a £60m bid for Anthony Gordon”, I should have smelt a rat’.

‘But two games into Frank’s reign with two defeats and no goals scored, it all makes sense now I suppose’.

Asked whether the prank was the funniest thing Corden’s ever done, Boehly said:

‘I’d say it’s James’ best work’.

‘Certainly, the funniest thing he’s done since Gavin and Stacey, that’s for sure’.

Meanwhile, Leicester City chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha admitted he was another Corden’s victims after the comic conned him into sacking Brendan Rodgers and replacing him with Dean Smith and John Terry.

During a big reveal in the King Power Stadium boardroom, Corden presented Srivaddhanaprabha with a framed picture of John Terry in a full Leicester strip holding aloft their 2016 Premier League trophy.

‘Very funny man’, roared the Thai businessman as Corden sang for some reason.
