Paddy’s football ambassador Phil Thompson is expecting the Red Devils to turn up the heat on Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday at 17:30.
On the back of two good away wins against Newcastle and Paris St-Germain, Thommo thinks United’s new-found confidence should be too much for Chelsea who are wrestling with a defensive outlook which could blunt their attacking weapons.
Man Utd v Chelsea
This is an interesting tie. Manchester United have had two good wins recently. Against Newcastle I thought they were incredible and they were incredible again against Paris St-Germain.
I didn’t think they could control the game, everybody was saying, ‘Oh, PSG have lost a lot of players.’ So did Manchester United! The players that came in, and the change in formation, they were quite excellent.
Chelsea, they probably defended a bit more solidly than usual and that’s taken away from their attacking prowess. That’s why it ended up at 0-0 against Sevilla. Frank Lampard will be happy but how long they can keep clean sheets, I’m not quite sure.

THOMMO’S TIP: With all that in mind, that’s why I’m going for a Manchester United Win. I can’t see anything more. If they have the confidence, which they should have after the PSG game, this is a Manchester United win and I’m thinking it will be quite comfortable.
THOMMO’S (EXTRA) TIP: Why not double up that Man Utd win with Liverpool to win against Sheffield United as well in Saturday’s late game?
