Wednesday night sees the return of international football with a whole raft of friendlies played across Europe. We’re taken a look at some of the best of the matches here to find a four-fold acca that could have you bouncing over the hump in the week.
7.30pm: Austria vs Greece: Under 2.5 Goals
Austria beat Norway away before losing to Romania at home in their recent Nations League matches while Greece drew with Slovenia on the road and beat Kosovo on their own turf. The Austrians are favourites here thanks to their impressive form in front of their own fans which has seen them lose just three of their 14 most recent matches. Greece are unbeaten in their five most recent away games, though prior to that run they’d gone seven matches without a win.
Austria manager Franco Foda has called up a few new faces into the senior squad, and Greece are in a similar situation too. With both managers experimenting with their lineups here we like the look of Under 2.5 Goals.
7.45pm: Netherlands vs Mexico – Netherlands to Win & Over 2.5 Goals
Prior to losing their last match 0-1 at home to Italy the Dutch had been on a run of eight matches undefeated, winning seven and drawing one. Just looking at their home form they’ve won nine of their last 12 on Dutch soil, keeping six Clean Sheets over those 12 matches. Seven out of their last 12 home matches have seen Over 2.5 goals and they kept six Clean Sheets.
Mexico have been in mighty form of late, losing just one of their past 14 matches. On the road, although not as good, it’s still very healthy with four wins, one draw (winning in ET) and one loss over their six most recent away matches, scoring an average of 2.33 goals per game. Gerardo Martino’s picked a few new faces in the squad, particularly in defence so things could get ropey for the away side here but a few older heads will be leading the charge up front. The home side should do the business against an inexperienced backline for Mexico but the visitors should get on the scoresheet so we’re going with Netherlands to Win & Over 2.5 Goals.

7.45pm: Poland vs Finland – Poland to Win
Poland have now won five-in-a-row at home and are strong favourites here. Finland’s record looks decent on the road but coming up against the better teams like Italy and Bosnia & Herzegovina they were fairly well beaten and even the likes of Hungary, Greece and Romania have all beaten them on their travels.
Poland manager Jerzy Brzeczek has named a strong squad with very few new additions so he’s going to be playing his usual line-up here. Poland should win and do so convincingly.
7.45pm: Switzerland vs Croatia – Both Teams to Score
The Swiss are favourites here but not by much. They started off their Nations League with a loss away to Ukraine but kept Germany to a 1-1 draw in Basel. Their home record is good, they’re unbeaten in their six most recent, winning four and drawing two.
Over Croatia’s eight previous matches they’ve won four, drawn two and lost two. Their away form hasn’t been good, losing five, drawing two and winning just one on the road. They’re usually good for a goal though and scored in seven out of those eight matches. The Swiss have scored in ten out of eleven recent home matches and we think both will score here.
