Saturday looks like it’s going to be an absolute belter of a day for football all across Europe, and we’ll be looking at matches from Spain, Germany, Portugal and Italy. With an international break on the horizon they’ll all be eager to enter the fortnight off on a high, but what are the markets like? Let’s have a look.
Atletico were absolutely toothless in their 0-0 away to newly-promoted Huesca. The Madrid side could only muster two shots on target and manager Diego Simeone was not a happy chappie at full time. This will be just their third match of the league season, they’ve won one and drawn one, while Villarreal have played four, winning two, drawing one and losing one.
Over the last five meetings at Atletico only one has seen Over 2.5 Goals landing. We all know too well that Simeone’s team are more than happy to take a 1-0, or 2-0 scoreline and see out a match. Villarreal though were decent enough on the road last season, averaging 1.37 goals on their La Liga travels and they’ve scored in three out of the last four meetings here and have netted six over their four league matches so far this season. With those stats we’ve got some value on our side here so we’re backing Both Teams to Score at pretty good odds.
Leipzig have won one and drawn one of their two Bundesliga matches so far, Schalke have lost both and departed ways during the week with manager David Wagner after they were beaten 1-3 at home to Werder Bremen last weekend. It didn’t exactly help that they’d lost 8-0 to Bayern Munich the week beforehand either.
Leipzig are massive favourites to win here thanks to how awful Schalke have been so far this season. Indeed looking further back into last season, Schalke have now gone 12 away matches in the league without a win. Leipzig are one of those teams that don’t really bother with defending though, averaging 1.24 goals against last season and Schalke have scored here in three out of four previous visits, the home side will win but they don’t often keep a Clean Sheet, we’re going with Leipzig to Win and BTTS.
Porto have started the season where they left off, they’ve won both of their matches and have scored a whopping eight goals and have conceded just one. Maritimo have won one and lost one, scoring two and conceding three. The home side are very short odds to win here but we’ve found an interesting stat. Over their 10 most recent league meetings against Maritimo at home Porto have won all 10 and have kept Maritimo scoreless in seven of those matches. We’re backing that to continue and backing Porto to Win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 here.
Even though Roma haven’t had a good start to their Serie A campaign they’re strong favourites to win here. The Romans have won seven out of eight recent visits to the Stadio Friuli and the market is expecting Udinese to be in for a long evening here. Add to this the fact that the home side have lost both of their Serie A matches and have only won one of their last five league games at home.
Edin Dzeko is the most likely to score here, he has four in 10 against Udinese but we’re going to play it a bit safer and just back Roma to get their first Serie A win of the season and heap more pain on Udinese.
Valencia have won two, drawn one and lost one of their La Liga matches so far, scoring seven and conceding five. Betis have won two and lost two, scoring five and conceding six. The home side have beaten Betis in seven out of 10 previous league meetings here but the market has made Betis favourites here.
Betis have won one of their last 14 away La Liga matches, while Valencia have lost just one of their last 15 at home in the league. We’re backing Valencia and the Draw here, short odds but it’s a nice little addition to our Acca. Go for the home win if you prefer.
