It on only seems like a minute since Monday Night Football left our screens for the end of season break and now it’s back in our lives again.
The shortest pre-season in the history of the Premier League is thankfully already behind us and we’ve got tons of top-flight English football to look forward to again.
One of the stories of that shortened window was the vast spending of Chelsea as they look to close the gap on Man City and champions Liverpool. Frank Lampard saw superstar name after superstar name arrive in his socially distant dressing over the summer and The Blues look primed for an assault on the Premier League.
They travel south to Brighton for their opening game of the season on Monday and The Seagulls will be looking to stop the Chelsea hype train at the Amex Stadium. Ahead of the game, PPTV caught up with our Football Trader Jason Murphy and we grabbed his fancies for all the action. You can check out Jason discussing his punts in the video below.
The price may not be the most enticing, but it’s hard to look past Chelsea to win here. The head just tells you that they have too much quality available to them.
They’ve got bought so well this summer and they can’t help but build on top of the good foundations Frank Lampard put in place last season.
Brighton did okay last season, but they’ll be aiming for a middle of the road finish again this campaign and you have to fell Chelsea will have too much for them here.
An interesting angle for this game is that Chelsea conceded 11 goals from headed balls last season and 10 goals direct from corner kicks.
That headed goals tally is the most they coughed up since the 2000/01 season. Even with the arrival of Thiago Silva, it’s hard to see them sorting that issue out for Monday’s game and it’s worth having a look at Brighton’s Lewis Dunk to score first.
He’s at a big price and it’s might be an idea to chance him pulling it off.
For our PP News Same Game Multi bet for this game we’ve selected Lewis Dunk to score anytime, which combined with Chelsea to win clocks in at around 28/1.
If you’re feeling brave, a Same Game Multi featuring Dunk to score first and Chelsea to win is at around 94/1.
